The 40th edition of India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) Premiere saw a record US$12 billion worth of business written over its six-day run from August 8 to 13, according to organiser Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC).
With the theme, “Brilliant Bharat,” the 2024 edition of the B2B fair hosted 2,100 exhibitors in 3,600 booths covering 135,000 square metres of exhibition space.
GJEPC said close to 50,000 trade visitors attended the show, which was held at the JIO World Convention Centre from August 8 to 12 and at the Bombay Exhibition Centre from August 9 to 13.
“With 2,000 international buyers and 15 international delegations from over 13 countries, IIJS Premiere 2024 played a crucial role in boosting exports and expanding our global footprint,” said GJEPC Chairman Vipul Shah.
He noted that the show featured a vast array of products that highlighted design and clearly reflected the shift towards catering to millennials and Gen Z consumers. “This year’s event set new benchmarks in innovation and creativity, bringing together the finest talents in the industry,” Shah continued.
First-time IIJS visitor, Eiji Fuksawa, senior director of the Japan Jewellery Association and CEO of Kohsai Co Ltd, said, “While Japan has a well-established diamond market, we are keen to forge relations with India to export exotic coloured gems.”
Dr. Sarak, senior advisor of the Cambodia International Gems & Jewelry Fair, revealed that India was Cambodia’s primary source of silver jewellery imports. Cambodian consumers are increasingly drawn to contemporary designs, she added.
