The Tahitian Pearl Association Hong Kong (TPAHK) will partner with industry stakeholders in China and Hong Kong to further promote the beauty and versatility of Tahitian pearls.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between TPAHK and leading gemstone and pearl associations in China and Hong Kong, such as Hong Kong Gemstone Manufacturers’ Association; Professional Association of pearls, Zhejiang; and the Shenzhen Pearl Industry Association, is scheduled to be signed on the sidelines of Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW) on September 17, 2024.
“This collaboration unites over 1,000 pearl companies, maximising our promotional and educational efforts,” noted TPAHK President Chan Ming Wing. “The presidents of these associations will serve as our Honorary Life Presidents or Honorary Presidents.”
At the show, TPAHK aims to gather pertinent information on market and industry trends as well as connect with exhibitors and existing and potential buyers of Tahitian pearls. The group is also eyeing to build brand recognition.
A highlight of its participation at JGW 2024 is its Asymmetric Perfection campaign, which includes a strong presence at Orient Odyssey, an immersive pearl-centric exhibit organised by Informa’s Jewellery & Gem Knowledge Community.
TPAHK is also exhibiting “The Leonidas Man” set by Italian designer Alessio Boschi, which bagged the top award in the Tahitian Pearl category of the JNA Jewellery Design Competition 2018/19. According to TPAHK, this collection exemplified Asymmetric Perfection through its creative use of one-of-a-kind circle and keshi pearls. Apart from this, TPAHK is shining the light on a unique 18mm button-shaped Tahitian pearl certified by the Gemological Institute of America.
“Demand for Tahitian pearls will come primarily from China,” remarked Chan. “There is also a continuously growing interest in Tahitian pearls from other Asian markets. Once the economy in mature Tahitian pearl markets such as the US and Europe recovers, demand from these countries will also strengthen.”
