The jewellery industry is thriving and evolving, thanks to technological advancements and new cutting-edge techniques in karat-gold jewellery production.
Jewellery manufacturers continue to push boundaries to create innovative pieces that are both visually stunning and sophisticated.
Hong Kong jeweller Ikku Fine Jewellery’s Flos Motus Collection, launched in 2025, exemplifies the fusion of artistry and enhanced craftsmanship. Inspired by the beauty of nature, the collection captures the refreshing greens and pinks on land alongside the mesmerising blues of the sky and the ocean.
According to founder Yukking Hui, these elements are further enhanced by gradient-coloured rhodium gold, which shifts in hue to complement gemstone colours.
“This technique requires high craftsmanship,” remarked Hui. “If there is a mistake during the process, we remove all the rhodium pigments and start over. Therefore, each piece is meticulously crafted. The collection resonates with elegance and precision, a testament to our dedication to innovative jewellery designs.”
Hui added that the pigments had been tested to be hypoallergenic.
Meanwhile, Korean jewellery manufacturer and exporter Jewel Jinyong, which specialises in 18-karat gold jewellery with diamonds, coloured gems and pearls, also employs a patented rhodium-plating method to achieve a multicolour gradient effect for its signature collections. Its go-to design motifs are butterflies, bees and flowers.
“This exclusive rhodium-plating technique creates a luxurious aesthetic that appeals to buyers who prioritise design and quality,” said Juyoun Lee, overseas area manager at Jewel Jinyong. “These unique designs help us maintain competitiveness. Business has been growing over the last two years, thanks to this collection performing strongly in the market.”
The company mainly exports to the US, Europe, Japan and the United Arab Emirates.
Korean jewellery manufacturer Siamo Jewelry, for its part, is setting trends with its signature Hollow Collection. As the name suggests, these lightweight pieces feature hollow interiors. Described by the company as fashionable and competitively priced, these pieces cater to a rising demand for affordable luxury.
“We produce the jewellery using modern techniques that we developed over the years to ensure the durability and quality of our products,” said Jaeyun Lee, CEO of Siamo Jewelry. This technology allows the company to produce pieces that are lighter and more affordable, and still retain the luxurious appeal of solid gold designs, added Lee.
