KGK Group is building a second jewellery manufacturing facility in Thailand, which will triple its production capacity and employ an additional 600 skilled workers.
Located near the group’s existing production centre in Bangkok’s Prawet district, the second unit will produce jewellery embellished with coloured gemstones and diamonds. It will concentrate on high-quality designs for the midrange to upper segments of the market.
“With excellent skilled workers, the focus will be on quality and craftsmanship in our jewellery production,” KGK said.
While exact completion date was not available at press time, the new jewellery manufacturing centre is expected to be ready soon.
Sanjay Kothari, vice chairman of KGK Group, recently met with Thailand's Labour Minister Suchart Chomklin to discuss the group’s business expansion plans and manpower requirements in Thailand.
The Thai government will facilitate recruitment of skilled workers who will be trained by KGK on international standards and techniques, thereby enhancing the skill levels of the country’s workforce and boosting employment, the group noted.
KGK cited Thailand’s strategic location, world-renowned craftsmanship, large and skilled workforce, conducive business environment and favourable government policies as the reasons for expanding its jewellery production facilities in the country.
The group also has a gemstone manufacturing centre in Thailand, giving its jewellery production facilities easy access to raw materials, KGK added.
