Jewellery & Gem WORLD Singapore (JGW Singapore) is primed to present one of the largest gatherings of the jewellery buying community after nearly three years of a pandemic-induced hiatus when it opens on September 27.
Asia’s biggest B2B show of the year is reuniting international trade buyers with about 1,000 exhibitors comprising jewellery manufacturers, gemstone specialists, equipment and tool suppliers, and packaging solutions vendors from 30+ countries and regions from September 27 to 30 at the Singapore EXPO.
“We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to JGW – one of the biggest and most global in-person jewellery events to be held since 2019,” said David Bondi, senior vice president of Informa Markets in Asia. “Opening day is only about two weeks away, and I am certain that everyone cannot wait for the show doors to open and catch up with colleagues and friends in person.”

The collective industry’s flagship exhibition is temporarily moving from Hong Kong to Singapore to make the venue more accessible to industry professionals eager for face-to-face networking. Singapore allows fully vaccinated visitors* to enter the country without pre-departure and on-arrival tests and quarantine, whereas Hong Kong still imposes mandatory hotel quarantine, and pre- and on-arrival tests for incoming travellers.
Only fully vaccinated visitors are permitted to enter and/or remain at the Singapore EXPO to attend JGW Singapore in accordance with government guidelines for large-scale events with more than 500 participants.
Prior to the Singapore show, a special-edition Hong Kong fair will deliver tailored sourcing experiences to local trade buyers and jewellery lovers from Friday (September 16) until next Monday (September 19). JGW is making its full return to Hong Kong in 2023.
Everyday luxury
One of JGW Singapore’s star attractions is finished jewellery spanning all styles, from classic pieces reinterpreted with a fresh new eye, to statement and minimalist collections that pack a punch when it comes to impact.
“Everyday luxury” – the sweet spot in jewellery retail – is strongly represented at the show. Covering a broad commercial price point, ideal for layering and stacking, and popular outfit toppers, jewellery pieces for everyday wear are trusted staples that even Gen Z consumers cannot do without.
The gold jewellery powerhouse that is Italy is fielding innovative manufacturers who live and breathe modern classic jewellery. Forging a blazing path in classically inspired jewellery designs that always feel brand new are Better Silver, Blu Oro, Chrysos, Giloro, Gold Art, Italgold, Karizia, Leonori, Livior, Re Sole, Silo and Trademax to name a few.
Better Silver, Chrysos, Karizia, Livior and Silo are showcasing a broad range of chains in gold and silver, the go-to piece for those who want an effortless style boost. Expect retailers to stock up on these perennial favourites, from chunky links to delicate versions that are either plain or adorned with stone accents.
Blu Oro, Giloro, Italgold and Re Sole are debuting crafted collections that can easily add a touch of elegance to any ensemble – day and night.
Gold Art is launching eye-catching necklaces, bracelets and earrings made of diamond-cut gold in different colour combinations. Leonori is giving ear hoops a modern twist with its innovative geometric gold earrings embellished with white or black enamel and diamonds. Also showcasing the best of Italian craftsmanship is Trademax, which is offering handmade gold bangles, earrings and necklaces, including stamped chains, among others.
Türkiye’s Arpas A S and Sign Diamond are raising the glam factor with fine gold and diamond jewellery, respectively. Founded in Istanbul in 1982, Arpas uses advanced technology in the design and production of gold jewellery from 8 karats to 22 karats, and in the manufacturing of tube, hollow and ball chains, among others. Sign Diamond, which has been producing statement stunners since 1999, is likewise introducing its Baguette Collection comprising rings, earrings, necklaces and bangles in 14-karat gold and set with baguette diamonds in E – F colours and in clarity scales ranging from VS to SI.
Offering designs varying from streamlined and sleek to opulent and flamboyant is J. Soares Joalheiros of Portugal. The brand, which provides tailor-made services, is shining the light on four collections, namely, Mint, Contour, Flame and Dot. Aquatic-themed Flame, inspired by the octopus, consists of earrings and pendant necklaces with Australian pearls encased in diamond-encrusted gold ribbons that resemble the gently undulating tentacles of the majestic sea creature.
Creative Designs of Hong Kong is putting a refreshing spin to classic jewellery with its innovative use of ceramic components in luscious turquoise and coral hues, among others. Its OPA Collection, which comes in 9-karat to 18-karat gold versions, features pendants, earrings, bracelets and rings accented with diamonds and ceramic. Among Creative Designs’ arresting styles are open circle pendants with alternating swirls of ceramic and diamonds.
Bringing fresh energy and excitement to the world of jewellery, lab-grown diamond suppliers are showcasing jewellery designs in styles ranging from classic to chic. Among them are New York-based Dev Jewels with its tennis bracelets made of fancy-cut lab-grown diamonds; Greenlab Diamonds of India, which is highlighting collections embellished with lab-grown stones in Ideal and Excellent cuts, and DiamSpark of the US, which is debuting a broad jewellery selection set with certified lab-grown diamonds.
Surat-based Ouros Jewels is making its JGW debut by introducing a wide range of lab-grown diamond brooches, rings and loose custom-cut lab-grown coloured diamond collection, while India’s Proudest Legend is unveiling RockRush lab-grown diamond jewellery for the wedding and everyday luxury markets. Additionally, Quality Gold USA / QG India Lab Grown LLP, which has a presence in the US and India, is presenting loose lab-grown diamonds and finished jewellery products including men’s rings and stud earrings.
Innovative and trend-savvy jewellery manufacturers are also highlighting contemporary takes on silver in addition to gold – from sculptural pieces that fuse art and fashion to playful and classic designs ideal for everyday wear. Present at the fair are Advance Manufacturers of Thailand, which is launching its Special Hinged Hoops Collection (earrings with hinged closures that ensure the accessories are seen from all directions); handmade amber jewellery specialists Amber Apple, Gem Amber, Gielo S.C. and Silvam-Ex Sp. J of Poland, and Jewellery Forest, a Korea-based company producing coloured gemstone sterling silver jewellery in Jaipur, India, to name a few.

Further enhancing JGW Singapore’s reach are livestreaming sessions on Days 2 and 3 of the show. Broadcast in Mandarin and hosted by the fair’s team of jewellery experts, the livestreams will give Greater China viewers the opportunity to see trends as they happen at the fair and engage in real-time conversations with select exhibitors at the same time.
In addition to finished jewellery, JGW Singapore is putting loose diamonds, coloured gemstones, pearls and other precious materials in the limelight. Also not-to-be-missed are resources for tools and equipment, packaging products, technology solutions and gemmological services, among others.
Segmented into 20-plus show floor destinations spread across 35,000 square metres of gross exhibit space for easy navigation, the fair features pavilions representing the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC), Colombia, Germany, Hong Kong, International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA), India, Israel Diamond Institute (IDI), Italy, Japan, Korea, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Türkiye and the US. Also not to be missed is the Premier Pavilion, a section that puts superbly crafted collections and investment-quality gemstones front and centre of the fair.
Meanwhile, JGW Hong Kong Special Edition is returning to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) this Friday (September 16) until next Monday (September 19). Reformatted to adapt to quarantine control measures still in place in Hong Kong, the sourcing event is open to both B2B buyers and jewellery lovers to generate cross-market opportunities for the trade.
