The house of Fabergé is celebrating 180 years of history with the launch of a new capsule collection that highlights the beauty of Mozambique rubies interspersed with 18-karat rose gold.
The collection, comprised of the Colours of Love diamond and ruby fluted 180 egg pendant, and rose gold and ruby mini fluted 180 limited-edition egg objet, is expected to attract the attention of modern collectors and enthusiasts.
Both creations are crafted from 18-karat rose gold and feature responsibly sourced Mozambique rubies from Gemfields.
The pieces take inspiration from “fluted” gold creations in the Fabergé archive, a technique for which Peter Carl Fabergé – the founder’s son – was renowned. Considered his trademark style, gold fluting is seen in many of Fabergé’s pre-1917 pieces.
With a height of 62mm and a diameter of just 35mm, the limited-edition rose gold and ruby mini fluted 180 egg objet fits in the palm of your hand.
The fluting brings out the natural beauty of the 18-karat rose gold by creating curved surfaces and mixed levels for light and shadow contrasts. At the centre on both sides of the egg is a cabochon ruby from Gemfields’ Montepuez mine in Mozambique.
The Colours of Love rose gold diamond and ruby 180 fluted egg pendant meanwhile features uniform vertical fluting around the egg’s circumference to create a tactile surface. A Mozambique ruby rests on the base of the egg, radiating a pop of colour.
The egg objet costs US$69,000 while the egg pendant sells for US$8,000. These are available at selected Fabergé boutiques and on Faberge.com.
