Two emeralds from Coscuez, Colombia – described as exceptional in size and quality – are being offered by FURA Gems at its second rough emerald auction scheduled for April 3 to 10 in the Middle East.
The event features more than 210,000 carats of roughs from the Coscuez mine in high, medium and commercial qualities, headlined by two rare gems, weighing 81.2 carats and 83.8 carats respectively.
The entire lot of top-quality emeralds is backed by transparency and traceability reports using the Gübelin Gem Lab’s Provenance Proof blockchain technology - a first for Colombian emeralds, according to the company.
Over 50 clients from Colombia, India, New York, Israel and Bangkok are expected to participate in the event.
The Coscuez mine is widely noted for its large-sized emeralds such as the Guinness Emerald Crystal of 1,759 carats, one of the largest gem-quality crystals in the world. In October 2020, FURA received a 30-year extension of its mining license in Coscuez and in December 2021, it obtained environmental approvals to upgrade to large-scale mining operations.
