Inhorgenta Munich has moved its February 2022 fair to April amid stricter health and safety protocols due to rising Covid-19 cases. Originally slated for February 11 to 14, Inhorgenta will now be held from April 8 to 11.
In a statement, organiser Messe Munchen said the decision was driven mainly by travel restrictions. Citing in-person fairs it had organised in Fall 2021 and January 2022, it noted that trade fairs could be successfully held under pandemic conditions. “Our customers and partners are still very interested in the trade show; the industry network wants to meet. With this new date, we provide a more reliable alternative for this,” said Klaus Dittrich, chairman and CEO of Messe Munchen.
Jewellery trade fairs in Italy, India and Qatar have likewise been rescheduled.
Vicenzaoro January and T.Gold will take place from March 17 to 21 while VO Vintage has been moved to March 18 to 20. “The decision has been made in compliance with the social responsibility of IEG towards the entire industry community,” said the shows’ organiser Italian Exhibition Group in a statement. Vicenzaoro was originally scheduled for January 21 to 26. VO Vintage was to take place from January 22 to 24.
IIJS Signature 2022 that was slated for January 6 to 9 at Mumbai’s Jio World Convention Centre was also postponed indefinitely. Colin Shah, chairman of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), said the council had all the requisite permissions to hold the show following Covid guidelines. GJEPC however voluntarily decided to organise the show at a later date, upon consultation with exhibitors, buyers, associations and members of the concerned GJEPC committee.
The Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition 2022 has likewise been postponed, according to event organiser Qatar Business Events Corporation. Citing the Covid-19 situation in Qatar, QBEC said a new date would eventually be announced for the show, which was originally scheduled for February 22 to 27.
The International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) meanwhile has cancelled its annual Gemological Industry & Laboratory Conference (GILC) as well as the ICA Tucson reception. GILC, an indoor event for ICA members and invited guests, was to be held on January 31 while the reception was scheduled for February 2. ICA chose to cancel both events as they are not suited for Covid protocols, said the association.
