Prices of blue, pink and yellow diamonds rose in the third quarter of the year, with the Fancy Color Research Foundation (FCRF) predicting further price hikes over the next two years.
According to the Q3 2021 Fancy Color Diamond Index (FCDI), prices of fancy colour diamonds were up 0.7 per cent in the quarter and 1.1 per cent during the trailing 12 months. Blue diamond prices were in the lead, with a 0.8 per cent increase, followed by pinks and yellows, at 0.7 per cent and 0.6 per cent, respectively.
Eden Rachminov, FCRF Advisory Board member, explained, “This increase was actually expected, as fancy colour prices were too low for too long. In my opinion, most colours will keep increasing in price over the next two years, especially the yellow category in all grades.”
A non-profit organisation, FCRF publishes the FCDI, which tracks pricing data for yellow, pink, and blue fancy colour diamonds in the major global trading centres of Hong Kong, New York, Geneva and Tel Aviv.
