A 31.44-carat natural unheated Burmese “Pigeon’s Blood” ruby and diamond ring is the star of the Tiancheng International Jewellery and Jadeite Spring Auction scheduled for November 27 in Hong Kong.
More than 210 lots of coloured gemstone and jadeite jewellery pieces, and other items by acclaimed jewellers and designers will be offered at the sale.
The Burmese ruby ring, which is estimated to fetch HK$22 million to HK$32 million (around US$2.82 million to US$4.1 million), is “one of the most important rubies on the auction market over the past decade,” according to the auction house.
Another highlight of the sale is a finely translucent emerald-green jadeite bangle, valued at HK$25 million to HK$45 million (around US$3.2 million to US$ 5.77 million), and a pair of Colombian emerald earrings of 24.93 carats and 23.80 carats each by Graff, which has a pre-sale estimate of HK$10 million to HK$15 million (around US$1.28 million to US$1.92 million).
Connie Huang, head of Tiancheng International’s Jewellery Department, remarked, “This season, we are thrilled to offer one of the most significant rubies on the auction market over the past decade. Hailing from Burma, this natural unheated ruby boasts a staggering weight of 31.44 carats. Added to that is the most desirable ‘Pigeon’s Blood’ colour, making this majestic stone an irresistible choice for discerning collectors.”
A preview will be held from November 22 to 26 in Central.
