This year’s edition of Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW) – the biggest B2B fine jewellery event in the world – will shine the spotlight on sustainability and the enduring magic of pearls.
The “One Fair, Two Venues” jewellery marketplace will be held from September 16 to 20 at the AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) and from September 18 to 22 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).
With a combined total of more than 3,300 exhibitors from over 40 countries and regions, this sourcing event offers a range of attractions and high-value engagements, including the presentation ceremony of the Sustainability Awards 2024 by JWA (Jewellery World Awards) and the Sustainability Heroes Panel Series.
Moreover, attendees may explore Orient Odyssey, a groundbreaking interactive exhibit that provides a fascinating glimpse into the world of pearls, and visit the Gold Jewellery Pavilion, which is making its debut with collections that showcase creativity, precision and customisation in gold jewellery production.
“JGW is the most highly anticipated B2B buying event for the international jewellery and gemstone community for many reasons: It takes the lead with its unparalleled range of products, services and expertise. It has a wealth of knowledge-sharing opportunities where connections are forged, trends are experienced firsthand and creativity flourishes,” said Celine Lau, director of Jewellery Fairs at Informa Markets Jewellery. “JGW is also as much about the city of Hong Kong as the show itself. It has free trade and the rule of law at its core, making it one of the most liberal and business-friendly destinations globally. Moreover, Hong Kong serves as an invaluable springboard, connecting businesses to both the vast opportunities within China and the rest of the world.”
Online pre-registration for JGW is now open and will remain available until September 9.
Furthermore, SEASONS | Autumn Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Fair will be held concurrently with JGW from September 18 to 22. Taking place in Hall 5BC of the HKCEC, this event is regarded as one of the most inspiring gatherings in the fashion jewellery and accessories industry. Buyers attending the fair will discover a multitude of opportunities, with an array of must-have collections available for the Spring/Summer seasons of 2025 and beyond.
One Fair, Two Venues
JGW has over 40 pavilions for buyers to explore, including its signature zones.
At AWE, visitors will find a vast marketplace for loose diamonds, coloured gemstones, pearls and other precious materials such as hard-to-find gemstones and commercial-grade and mid-range quality goods.
The Diamond Pavilion, one of the world’s largest, showcases the full spectrum of the industry, including fancy colour diamonds and flawless stones in excellent cuts.
The Fine Gem Pavilion (FGP) is another top show floor destination, attracting buyers of coveted gemstones sought after by legacy brands, designers and collectors. The Gemstone Pavilion, known for its high concentration of loose gemstone suppliers in one location, is another must-visit for buyers in search of stones in virtually every colour, cut, quality and price range.
Another beloved attraction is the Pearl Pavilion, which gathers internationally renowned suppliers of Akoya, South Sea, Tahitian and freshwater pearls. Dealers specialising in rare natural pearls – from conch and melo pearls, among others – are also going to have a presence at the fair.
For buyers seeking finished jewellery products, the HKCEC section of JGW is the prime destination. The Grand Hall is home to the Fine Design Pavilion (FDP), showcasing high jewellery creations with rare and investment-quality gems. The CORE Pavilion highlights some of the best of Hong Kong’s jewellery and gemstone industry, while the International Premier Pavilion (IPP) spotlights the latest trends and styles in the luxury jewellery space.
Other noteworthy spaces within HKCEC include the Fei Cui Gallery, Antique & Vintage Jewellery, Designer Arena, International Fine Jewellery and the Hong Kong Pavilion to name a few. Additionally, trade association-led, themed and country & regional sections offer exhibits categorised by product type and origin, allowing buyers to navigate the show floor effortlessly and find their desired products with ease.
Talk of the Show
Sustainability Awards 2024 by JWA
Topping JGW’s programme is the presentation of trophies to the winners of the Sustainability Awards 2024 by JWA. The Award Recipients in the Environmental Stewardship, Social Empowerment, Manufacturing Innovation, Community Engagement and Sustainability Leadership categories will be celebrated at the Fair Reception, which will take place on September 18 at the Grand Foyer of the HKCEC.
The Awardees and finalists will also be invited to participate in the Sustainability Heroes Panel Series where they will share their inspiring journeys to sustainability on September 17 at the AWE and September 18 at the HKCEC.
Orient Odyssey
Pearls, cherished as enduring symbols of beauty, grace and purity, take centre stage in one of the most extraordinary show floor experiences ever launched at JGW.
Celebrated as the most renowned of all biological gems, these beauties are the stars of the special exhibit, “Orient Odyssey: From Shell To Gem – The Fascinating Life Of Pearls,” in partnership with Autore, Edison Pearls, Hatta New World Co Ltd, Japan Pearl Exporters' Association (JPEA), Japan Pearl Promotion Society (JPPS), Jewelmer, Paspaley and Tahitian Pearl Association Hong Kong (TPAHK), among others.
Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the intriguing journey of how a humble mollusc like the pearl oyster can produce some of nature’s most perfect creations. The exhibit will also highlight famous pearls in history, the latest advancements in modern pearl cultivation and a collection of exceptional pearls, among others. Moreover, this special attraction will raise thought-provoking questions about the future of pearls and the role pearl oysters play as indicators of the health and vitality of oceans and the broader natural ecosystem.
Complementing Orient Odyssey are panel discussions on “Beyond Precious: Pearl Farming And Environmental Stewardship” at the AWE on September 17 and “The Power Of Pearls: Sustainable Gems For A New Generation,” which will take place at the HKCEC on September 18.
Gold Jewellery Pavilion
Launching at JGW this year is the Gold Jewellery Pavilion, a section dedicated to jewellery collections and accessories exclusively crafted from the precious metal. With a focus on Asia-based manufacturers, the pavilion will present the cutting-edge trends and advancements in gold jewellery production, demonstrating the countless possibilities that can be achieved using this precious medium.
