Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW) had its beginnings as the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Watch Fair back in 1983. The inaugural show had 110 exhibitors and 700 buyers. Fast-forward four decades and JGW is now the world’s largest jewellery fair, attracting visitors from over 130 countries.
Extraordinary 40
To mark this special year, JGW is presenting the Extraordinary 40 (E40) Awards, under the auspices of the Jewellery World Awards (JWA). This tribute honours the exceptional achievements of 40 individuals who have made a significant impact on the jewellery industry and who continue to shape its future today.
Several E40 Awardees will participate in a series of high-profile panel discussions where they will share their insights, experiences and expertise. Additionally, leading organisations in different sectors of the industry will provide updates and share the latest developments in their respective fields.
Taking place from September 20 to 22, these Master Insights sessions will cover five topics: Diamonds, Coloured Gemstones, Pearls, Jewellery Retail and the Greater China market. An E40 Awards Presentation will precede each panel discussion.
“Our Extraordinary 40 Awardees are the embodiment of excellence, dedication, commitment and boldness within the jewellery world. With this recognition campaign, we wholeheartedly express our gratitude to the Award recipients, as well as countless others who, although not publicly acknowledged, have contributed to the success and growth of our sector,” said Celine Lau, director of Jewellery Fairs at Informa Markets Jewellery.
Special activities
JGW is also honouring its loyal supporters. During the 40th Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong Fair Reception on September 20, 2023 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, six companies that have been exhibiting at the show since its maiden edition will receive loyalty awards.
Ruby is also taking centrestage at JGW 2023 as the 40th anniversary gemstone. In the Red Radiance - the Ruby’s Mine-to-Market Adventure Exhibition, visitors can expect to see a stunning display of ruby exhibits, highlighting the rarity and allure of this precious gemstone. Meanwhile, the Red Radiance Treasure Hunt will guide buyers through the show floor to view the most remarkable ruby collections.
Exhibitors and visitors can also commemorate the occasion by taking a picture with a background of their choice at the JGW GemSnap photo booth at various locations in the two venues.
