Gold, the eternal symbol of luxury and prosperity, is experiencing a renaissance in contemporary jewellery. Today, luxury jewellers are redefining its timeless appeal with bold expressions, blending craftsmanship, heritage influences and modern design.
Bulgari recently unveiled Bulgari Eternal, a collection that breathes new life and creativity into signature designs from the Roman maison’s archives. The inaugural chapter of this collection is the Vimini line, a contemporary interpretation of an archival bracelet from 1942.
The new creation honours the original’s classic geometric aesthetics, employing a gold-woven rhomboid-shaped motif crafted in warm-toned 18-karat gold, secured by invisible flexible links. This distinctive design is now reinterpreted in five jewellery creations – necklace, bracelet, ring, and two earrings, alongside a one-of-a-kind high jewellery masterpiece.
“While envisioning this line, I kept the original archive piece in mind, captivated by its timeless allure. I was fascinated by its rhythmic geometry and warm tones of gold, which we reinterpreted with a modern sensibility. Each piece feels fluid and tactile, designed to move naturally with the body – contemporary, elegant and deeply connected to our heritage.” said Lucia Silvestri, creative director of Bulgari.
Meanwhile, Italian jeweller Fope launched a 2026 promotional campaign, The Golden Now, to celebrates its iconic Eka Collection. This line revolutionised the designs with stretchable and fully flexible bracelets, necklaces and rings in 18-karat gold.
A timeless favourite, the collection highlights the precious metal’s “flexibility, timeless and effortlessly luxurious” allure. Each piece features its signature Novecento mesh chain design, made possible by the patented Flex’it system, which involves inserting tiny 18-karat gold springs between the links of the gold weave.
Hong Kong jeweller Lukfook Jewellery, for its part, is shining the spotlight on a traditional Chinese goldsmithing technique. Inspired by the extravagant aesthetics of China’s Tang Dynasty, the Night Banquet in the Tang Palace Collection features a series of gold jewellery imbued with auspicious cultural meaning.
Standout pieces include the heritage-style gold bracelets, which feature motifs such as ancient copper coins, abacus bead strands, and lotus and ruyi, to name a few. These elements narrate a wish for success, wealth and prosperity.
