Technological innovations continue to propel advancements in jewellery design, productivity and authentication within the jewellery and gem industry.
Germany-based Lampert Precision Welding unveiled its latest PUK 6.1 welding equipment in January 2025. The new model offers a significantly faster spot weld sequence with simultaneously adjustable speed levels. It also lets users save up to five individual configurations permanently, and the machine automatically starts with the last selected settings.
The PUK 6.1 is capable of handling material thickness below 0.2mm and welding a variety of precious and base metal alloys for components like fittings, clasps, eyelets, chain links and rings. It now comes with a new PIN mode for welding ear studs and pins.
“It should be particularly emphasised that our fine welding machines can also be used in the immediate vicinity of sensitive gemstones without causing damage. Therefore, they are ideal for goldsmiths, silversmiths and jewellers for repair work,” said the company.
On the other hand, Singapore-based Presidium Instruments Pte Ltd is offering a wide range of diamond and gemstone testing devices.
Its new Oti diamond tester showcases cutting-edge diamond authentication with its dual optical and thermal testing in a single probe, ensuring accurate identification between natural and lab-grown diamonds. It allows testing of loose and set stones, including fancy cuts, the company said.
