Coveted for their rarity, resplendence and high investment value, fancy colour diamonds are at the heart of recently unveiled fine jewellery collections.
Mouawad’s Sun on the Seven Wonders collection, for instance, captures the essence of iconic landmarks around the world, with enchanting yellow diamonds symbolising the sun as the centre stone in each jewellery piece.
The collection’s first chapter pays homage to the majesty and historical significance of the Colosseum in Rome. Some highlights include the Colosseum-inspired sautoir adorned with a 50.01-carat rectangular cut-cornered yellow diamond and a bangle, inspired by the Colosseum’s magnificent arches, accentuated with a 24.55-carat yellow diamond.
De Beers Jewellers, for its part, refreshed its Forces of Nature high jewellery collection with new designs. One captivating addition is a ring embellished with a 2.03-carat fancy vivid orange cushion-cut diamond centre gem, complemented by rough brown diamonds, polished yellow diamonds and brilliant white diamonds.
Meanwhile, the vibrancy of fancy colour diamonds alongside gemstones is the centrepiece of King Fook Jewellery’s new collection. Underscoring this theme is a white gold ring adorned with pink diamonds, which adds a touch of elegance to an everyday attire.
Fancy colour diamonds are also expected to sustain strength in the trade amid market uncertainties.
While fancy colour diamonds saw a slight dip in prices during the second quarter of 2024, the Fancy Color Research Foundation (FCRF) described it as a “minor fluctuation” compared to broader market movements.
The latest Fancy Color Diamond Index (FCDI) recorded a year-on-year price decrease across yellow (1.7 per cent), and pink and blue diamonds (0.3 per cent) during the period in review.
“The declines in prices are not significant and are typical for the summer period. We feel the fancy colour diamond market is stable and prices will remain stable,” FCRF Data Supplier Marcel Herszaft commented.
