The jewellery industry continues to thrive with cutting-edge technological innovations and advancements in jewellery manufacturing equipment and craftsmanship.
Several global solutions providers recently unveiled their latest offerings aimed at aiding craftsmen in creating exquisite, premium-quality and durable jewellery pieces.
Leading materials technology firm Umicore has developed PLATUNA®PT, a new electrolyte for electroplating with 99.9 per cent pure platinum, which enables the deposition of exceptionally thick, homogeneous and crack-free platinum layers on jewellery products.
The company described PLATUNA®PT as high corrosion and abrasion resistant, adding that platinum coatings can improve the performance, durability, efficiency and effectiveness of technical applications.
The jewellery market also has at its disposal an extensive range of professional-grade gem and jewellery processing tools from Busch & Co GmbH & Co KG, which include round burs, twist drills, bearing cutters, circular saws and the conical shape.
Busch’s HighTech-Tools series is made of hot isostatically pressed finest-grain carbide material, empowering bench jewellers to achieve precise stone setting and cutting on hard jewellery materials such as platinum and titanium.
The company is expanding its stone-setting offerings with the new innovative cutter – PavéCut 447AU. It combines the functionality of a twist drill and a round bur, streamlining the pre-drilling and shaping process into a single step. This tool enables pavé settings to be created 50 per cent faster, revealed Busch.
