In the Spring-Summer 2022 season, fashion rebels against the limitations imposed by pandemic life with colour, defiance and acceptance. Gems and jewellery deliver appropriate equivalents.
Pink continues to convey staggered levels of response – with pastel shades evoking tranquility and bubblegum pink demanding attention. Either way, the colour brightens up the season’s catwalks as accents or mainstays. Also spotted on fashion runways are lime getups, bestowing a refreshing calm on frazzled nerves.
In gem terms, breezy pink projections fall in the realm of rose quartz, morganite, kunzite and conch pearls while more forceful stances are provided by pink spinels, tourmalines and sapphires. Meanwhile, tsavorite and peridot fall in the pocket of lime tones with prasiolite and alexandrite sometimes meeting the mark.
Femininity in Spring-Summer 2022 is championed in style and substance. Fall 2021’s cottagecore fashion evolves into more mainstream outlets. Crochet touches are prevalent, easy knits enable chic comfort, and gingham patterns establish a grounding presence.
Patchwork designs, lacy patterns and bohemian touches in material and design are aplenty in the jewellery space.
Restrained abandon is an equally powerful voice. Bikini tops weave their way into daily wear, sheer and see-through styles abound, and familiar cutout accents nestle in white ensembles. Fringes, another perennial favourite, verge on the dramatic, while modern modes take an ultra-outlandish route.
Here too, jewellery obliges with contemporary and edgy designs, sculptural undertones and non-traditional materials lending character to classic staples.
