Inventive designs are adding extra sparkle to product showcases at JGW’s finished jewellery section, which is being held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre until September 21. Lume Creations Co Ltd’s Skyline Collection, for instance, is impressing fair visitors. Abhishek Rawat, director of Lume Creations, described the collection as an artistic interpretation of some of the world’s most iconic city skylines, transformed into wearable fine jewellery. Each ring is meticulously crafted in 18-karat gold or platinum and embellished with handselected diamonds of E-F colours and VVS clarity grades as well as gemstones. The pieces are designed to capture the spirit and architecture of beloved landmarks in Paris, New York, Moscow, Beijing and Dubai, to name a few. Innovative men’s jewellery pieces are also front and centre at JGW 2025. Victor Yiu, director of Zuri Jewelry Co Ltd, said this jewellery category presents brilliant business opportunities. Zuri launched its new men’s jewellery collection, The Guardian Shield, at JGW 2025. Aesthetic elements of an armour are interwoven in the platinum or silver jewellery pieces such as shields and swords, conveying protection and strength. It also introduced its Love Lock Heart Collection in 18-karat rose gold with diamonds alongside some new transformable pieces. “Buyers have tighter budgets amid ongoing economic uncertainties, so they are looking for something unique. They are happy to purchase innovative and intricate designs with compelling narratives,” said Yiu. “Versatile pieces that can be worn in various ways are on trend too.” Yiu also cited a great deal of Southeast Asian buyers at the show. Over at the AsiaWorld-Expo, coloured gemstone dealer Gemeasy DMCC is offering a matching pair of Paraiba tourmalines weighing 21.12 carats in total; a 7.91-carat no-oil Colombian emerald; and a 2.42-carat no-heat Burmese Pigeon’s Blood ruby. Company owner Walter Veneruz said, “JGW is one of the best shows for us as we are able to meet mature and sophisticated buyers who understand coloured gemstones and their value. We met many serious buyers from China.” Pluczenik Diamond Company is showcasing a heart-shaped 40-carat IF D-colour diamond certified by the Gemological Institute of America. The Belgian diamantaire is likewise presenting a collection of Desert Diamonds. SHOW DAILY by JNA • 11 JewelleryNet.com NEWS Day 5 • 19 September 2025 Alexander Laut, founder of Alexander Laut Co Ltd; Scarlett Clauss, vice director of OsmiumInstitut Germany; and Tai Wong director, Global Innovation & Product Development of Platinum Guild International (PGI®) Precious metal opportunities in a Gen Z market An insightful discussion focusing on what draws younger buyers to precious metal jewellery and how it fits into their notions of personalisation and luxury will take place today at Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW). The session, New Metal Age: Expanding Markets Through Gen Z Engagement, will look at the exceptional allure of premium metals and their respective design and value proposition. The expert panel consists of Tai Wong, director, Global Innovation & Product Development of Platinum Guild International (PGI®); Scarlett Clauss, vice director of Osmium-Institut Germany; and renowned designer Alexander Laut, founder of his namesake brand Alexander Laut Co Ltd. They will examine how digital natives perceive metal jewellery through their unique definitions of luxury and value. Beyond wealth symbolism, younger consumers are drawn to gold, platinum, silver and other metal accessories for selfexpression and aesthetic versatility. The panellists will investigate whether this appeal transcends demographics or remains strongest in cultures where precious metals represent generational wealth and heritage. The discussion will also address jewellery design innovation, personalisation opportunities and how Gen Z’s quest for uniqueness intersects with their responsiveness to trends and pop culture influences. Industry experts Wong has been with PGI China for more than 13 years, working with partners in the jewellery manufacturing and retail sectors. In his role, Wong is aiming to expand and strengthen the platinum jewellery sector through technological innovation and by developing market opportunities in new consumer segments. Fascinated by crystalline osmium – recognised as the rarest precious metal – Clauss, for her part, made a bold career shift to become one of the earliest team members working with osmium. Since 2019, she has led the international team ensuring secure and standardised trade worldwide. Meanwhile, Moscow-born Laut emigrated to Hawaii in the early 1990s. He received a medical degree and tried many different professions before finding his real passion in jewellery making. He worked as a journalist, photographer and gallery owner but has always been interested in jewellery design and gemmology. Laut’s unique style is focused on large, rare natural stones, which he chooses himself. He established his premier atelier in Hawaii in 2003, marking the beginning of his journey into the world of fine jewellery.
