Three shows dedicated to finished jewellery, packaging solutions, tools & equipment and jewellery industry-related technologies are taking over HKCEC. These are JGW: Hong Kong (Hall 1), JGW: International (Halls 3 and 5) and JGW: Fine Design (Grand Hall). Meanwhile, business is brisk at AsiaWorldExpo (AWE), which is hosting three co-located fairs, namely, JGW: Gemstones (Halls 3, 6, 8 and 10), JGW: Diamonds & Fine Gems (Halls 5, 7, 9 and 11) and JGW: Pearls+ (Halls 1 and 2). Event organiser Informa Markets Jewellery cited an increase in the number of mainland Chinese buyers at the fair on the first day. Exhibitors at AWE also attested to meeting new clients and touching base with long-term customers. Daniel Assaf, owner of New York-based Tsavorite Factory (USA) Inc, said he entertained new buyers from Europe and reconnected with existing ones from Japan and other countries. “Meeting customers I do not see often and seeing other dealers and what they have at the fair – it is all very important,” remarked Assaf. “Traffic was good on opening day.” Tsavorite Factory’s major markets are the US, Europe and Asia. The company also has an office in Bangkok, which mainly caters to buyers from Japan and Thailand. The coloured gem specialist is showcasing an expansive gem collection at AWE, led by a top-grade 41.5-carat Malaya garnet and vivid pink spinels from Mahenge alongside top-quality tourmalines, to name a few. Alexander Kreis, master gem-cutter at Germany-based Kreis Jewellery GmbH & Co KG, is out to meet quality buyers at JGW 2025. The company has customers in Europe and the US and is planning to strengthen its Asian presence. Kreis Jewellery is offering resplendent gems in exceptional cuts, including Oregon sunstones, morganites and Paraiba and lagoon tourmalines, to name a few. A highlight is a single, elongated multi-cut aquamarine resembling gemstones grouped together. “Our expectation is to meet the right clients with whom to build connections. Asia is growing and the quality of customers is improving. It is the market of the future, and we want to boost our presence here,” said Alexander. 17 September 2025 | Wednesday Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong 15-19 September 2025 | AWE 17-21 September 2025 | HKCEC The World’s No.1 Jewellery Sourcing Destination 3Day Bevy of activity at AsiaWorld-Expo LIVE GUIDE HONG KONG城市指南 香港 Download LIVE Guide Hong Kong now to unlock exclusive vouchers and unforgettable city experiences! SHOW DAILY by JNA • 4 NEWS JewelleryNet.com Day 3 • 17 September 2025 China’s Hard Pure Gold makes its debut at JGW The Hard Pure Gold Pavilion, presented by the World Gold Council (WGC) and 14 leading gold jewellery manufacturers from China, is making its maiden appearance at Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW) 2025. The pavilion aims to boost buyers’ awareness of Hard Pure Gold jewellery while showcasing the technical expertise of Chinese jewellery makers in producing such pieces, ultimately driving sales, said Roland Wang, regional CEO (China) of WGC. “JGW, as an international jewellery trade fair, provides the ideal global platform to introduce Hard Pure Gold jewellery to the global market,” said Wang. “The showcase inspires buyers and helps them understand the unique attributes – harder, lighter, brighter – of these innovative products.” Given the challenges posed by high gold prices to global gold jewellery sales, Hard Pure Gold jewellery provides a blend of lightweight designs and extensive design options, he remarked, adding, “We are confident that this innovative category will resonate well with the international market.” Companies taking centre stage in the Hard Pure Gold Pavilion are Shenzhen Swiky Jewellery Co Ltd, Shenzhen Cuilu Jewelry Manufacturing Co Ltd, Zijin Mining Group Gold Jewelry Co Ltd, Shenzhen Professional buyers seeking fine jewellery pieces in exceptional designs are in for a dazzling sourcing experience at Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW) 2025. Some of the industry’s most prolific jewellers are offering their latest collections at the fair. One shining example is Unique Brilliant Ltd, which specialises in jewellery pieces adorned with the rarest gems. “Our exquisite collections reflect our company’s name – each piece has its own uniqueness,” the jeweller said. “We have more than 40 years of experience in selecting only the best pieces for our loyal clients worldwide.” The jeweller is aiming to catch the fancy of buyers with a stunning 8.25-carat unheated ruby from the Winza mine in Tanzania as well as a ring embellished with a 10.90-carat unheated Padparadscha sapphire from Sri Lanka bearing a mesmerising combination of pink and orange. Peershine Jewellery HK Ltd is also showcasing its fine jewellery making expertise at the fair. The company’s team of expert designers and artists in Hong Kong produces around 3,000 innovative pieces for every season. Headlining its offerings is an Australian crystal opal bangle in 18-karat gold with glittering diamond accents and a boulder opal pendant in 14-karat gold. Meanwhile, Ballet Ruby Co Ltd’s fine jewellery pieces are also gaining attention at the fair such as fancy sapphire necklaces and a ruby and diamond bracelet, all in 18-karat rose gold, to name a few. Mingfeng Jewelry Ltd, Shenzhen Yuehao Jewellery Co Ltd, Shenzhen Colorful International Jewelry Co Ltd, Shenzhen Fenghui Holding Investment (Group) Co Ltd, Shenzhen Jinmingzhu Jewelry Co Ltd, Guanhua Jewelry, HK Chaozun Jewelry Ltd, Shenzhen Jinyufu Jewelry Co Ltd, Shenzhen Ganlu Jewellery Co Ltd, Shenzhen Batar Investment Holding Group Co Ltd and Shenzhen Point Gold Precious Metal Co Ltd. Growth engine Hard Pure Gold jewellery pieces are produced using advanced technology that enable more intricate, lighter styles with greater durability and wear resistance. The Chinese government’s new industry standard, which came into effect on May 1, 2025, specifies “Hard Pure Gold jewellery” as a jewellery piece with a minimum hardness of at least 60HV on the Vickers hardness scale and “gold content of at least 990 per cent.” Hard Pure Gold jewellery pieces may be crafted using techniques such as electroforming and lost-wax casting, among others. The minimum thickness requirement for hollow Hard Pure Gold jewellery is over 0.10mm. “Hard Pure Gold allows for lightweight but visually striking pieces,” Wang explained. “A 2- to 3-gram Hard Pure Gold piece can appear every bit as substantial as a traditional piece that might require double the material. As gold prices climb, Hard Pure Gold’s affordability becomes especially attractive to younger consumers.” He also emphasised the immense creative possibilities of Hard Pure Gold jewellery. The metal’s hardness allows designers to craft intricate and unconventional pieces, even combining pure gold with gemstones and other materials. Wang said Hard Pure Gold jewellery has become the fastest-growing product category in China in the last two years, thanks to its appeal and affordability. It is expected to be a major growth engine in the future. The introduction of the new official industry standard that clearly defines these products is also expected to pave the way for a brighter future in China’s jewellery market. “This category accounted for 20 to 25 per cent of overall gold jewellery sales in China in 2024. The market share of this category is steadily increasing as it continues to gain traction among consumers,” Wang remarked. The Emerald Experience Corner: A Closer Look at Emeralds – From Mine to Inclusions is a main attraction at GIA’s booth in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This immersive experience is aimed at guiding visitors through the emerald’s journey from its formation deep within the earth to its transformation into a polished gemstone. In addition, visitors can closely examine emerald inclusions using GIA’s latest innovative instrument, the Gemolite® NXT Photomicroscope. Recent submission patterns at GIA reflected a growing demand for more specific emerald information, driven by both knowledgeable traders and discerning consumers. In response, GIA reintroduced filler identification in its emerald reports in December 2024. According to GIA, this strategic move was sparked by major US and European brands increasingly requesting for precise and up-to-date gemmological analysis. “Clients continue to show strong interest in an emerald’s country of origin, often opting for Colombia or Zambia, while an increased number of customers seek detailed information about treatments before making a purchase,” said Tom Moses, GIA executive vice president and chief laboratory and research officer. In addition to identifying a gem as an emerald and assessing the degree of filler in it, clients may now request the new filler identification service at no extra cost. This advanced reporting goes beyond mere identification or origin, giving retailers and collectors the necessary information to evaluate the gem’s beauty, value and durability. “While the Institute did significant research on fillers and offered the identification of fillers in emeralds more than 20 years ago, we changed the service to focus on identifying the degree of filler,” said Moses. “This was in part due to the recognition that fillers can be removed, changed and mixed.” The interest in filler identification stemmed from both jewellers and emerald dealers who prefer natural fillers such as oils or resins over artificial resins or hardened polymers, according to Moses. SHOW DAILY by JNA • 11 JewelleryNet.com NEWS Day 3 • 17 September 2025 Hari Krishna Exports Pvt Ltd Seven enterprises demonstrating the global jewellery industry’s commitment to positive change were declared champions in the Sustainability Awards 2025 by JWA (Jewellery World Awards). Organised by Informa Markets Jewellery, the Awards programme recognises excellence across five categories: Environmental Stewardship; Community Catalyst; Tech for a Sustainable Future; Diversity, Equity & Inclusion; and Sustainability Leadership. The winning companies from China, Hong Kong, India, Italy, the US and Vietnam will be honoured today in a Recognition Ceremony during the Fair Reception of Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW). “What an exceptional year! All entries received were truly outstanding, making us wish we could recognise each one,” commented Celine Lau, director of Jewellery Fairs at Informa Markets Jewellery. “Sustainability and business success naturally complement each other but when a company’s core mission extends beyond financial gains, its influence ripples outward exponentially. As our judges observed: Sustainability transcends good business. This is where meaningful change begins – in enterprises creating positive impact not because it is advantageous but because they see no other way forward.” As consumer expectations continue to evolve, sustainability becomes not only a choice but a necessity for long-term business survival, remarked Lau. “The goal is to view sustainability not as something businesses ‘do’ but as something they fundamentally ‘are,’ and we believe this is the path being pursued by our 2025 winners,” she said. The awardees were selected by accomplished experts from diverse fields, both within and beyond the jewellery industry, namely John Mulligan, head of Sustainability Strategy at the World Gold Council (WGC) and president of the Sustainable Development Commission of the World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO); Brandee Dallow, president of the Community for Ethical Jewelry (formerly Ethical Metalsmiths) and chief sustainability officer at Grandview Klein Diamonds; Caroline Yuan, vice president of the Shanghai Diamond Exchange (SDE); Andrew Lau, director of ESG Advisory for Colliers Asia; and Jan Porter, director of ESG at B2B beauty solutions provider, Meiyume.
