Pride of place at Venus Jewel’s booth belongs to the Yellow Lava, an amazing 16.92-carat radiantshaped, flawless vivid yellow diamond. “We are delighted to present the ‘Yellow Lava,’ a true testament to our craftsmanship, energy and dynamism. An epitome of luxury, this diamond is a symbol of passion, power and elegance. Its name is derived from its evenly distributed vivid yellow colour and flawless clarity,” said Rajesh Shah, partner at Venus Jewel. HanzGeorg Wild, CEO of Wilds, explained, “We want to draw attention to a mesmerising 20-caratplus Padparadscha sapphire from Sri Lanka with intense pink and orange colour.” What makes the gem exceptional is the fact that Padparadscha sapphires of this size do not normally come in such vibrant hues. “The colour combination of pink and orange is very special in Padparadscha sapphires. Add to that the notable size. This stunning gem carries a price tag of around US$1.5 million,” noted Wild. SHOW DAILY by JNA • 8 NEWS JewelleryNet.com Day 2 • 17 September 2024 A glittering collection of lab-grown diamonds and finished lab-grown diamond jewellery is taking centre stage at Greenlab Diamonds’ booth at Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW) 2024. The company offers parcels that are ideal for bulk purchases and solitaire stones of up to 30-plus carats, catering to the specific needs of manufacturers, retailers and high-end buyers. “We are displaying lab-grown diamonds in a full spectrum of colours, led by traditional whites,” it noted. “Our offerings also cover all clarity grades: From flawless to those with minor inclusions, ensuring there is something for every preference and budget. Buyers can likewise choose from a variety of shapes like round, princess, cushion, oval, marquise, pear and more.” At JGW, the spotlight is on the company’s fancy colour lab-grown diamonds, which are available in mesmerising colours of yellow, pink, green and blue, to name a few. These also come in a variety of clarity grades and shapes. “Offering a wide array of products allows for greater creativity in jewellery designs,” added Greenlab. “We are also showcasing our curated selection of lab-grown diamond jewellery, including engagement rings, wedding bands, earrings, necklaces and bracelets.” According to the company, JGW serves as a platform to establish new business connections and explore partnerships and potential collaborations with other industry leaders. Demand for lab-grown diamonds remains steady in Greenlab’s major markets of the US and Europe. Meanwhile, the company is focused on raising awareness and understanding of lab-grown diamonds in the mainland Chinese and Hong Kong retail markets. “We wish to establish and strengthen partnerships with leading retail chains and independent jewellers in these regions to expand our market presence,” the company noted. Exploring emerging markets in Southeast Asia is also in the cards for Greenlab. Greenlab has successfully expanded its operations into several key Asian markets, including China, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore. To meet rising demand, Greenlab has enhanced its jewellery manufacturing capability by investing in state-of-the-art technology and expanding its production facilities. Moving forward, Greenlab is looking to enter a direct-to-consumer (B2C) platform, allowing customers to purchase lab-grown diamonds and lab-grown diamond jewellery directly from the company and providing them with a seamless and transparent shopping experience. “We anticipate substantial growth in 2025 as we focus on increasing awareness of chemical vapor deposition (CVD) lab-grown diamonds across Asian markets, tapping into traditional Chinese retail chains and expanding into the B2C segment in India,” shared Greenlab. “By launching targeted educational campaigns and forming strategic partnerships with industry stakeholders, we aim to elevate the understanding and appreciation of lab-grown diamonds in Asia.” Meanwhile, a decline in lab-grown diamond prices could spur further demand as consumers consider lab-grown diamonds “a more affordable alternative to mined diamonds,” remarked Greenlab, adding that continuous improvements in manufacturing techniques, like CVD methods, enhance the quality and reduce the cost of producing lab-grown diamonds. Beloved and celebrated for his unmatched gem-faceting techniques and artistry, he is also displaying his World Heritage Collection at Booth 9D31 at the AsiaWorld-Expo. The World Heritage Collection, which he describes as his “most complete and meaningful” creative endeavour to date, features 12 gemstones dedicated to 12 cultures, including bygone civilisations like ancient Egypt and the Roman Empire. Some of these amazing stones have more than a thousand facets. “I worked on this collection for four years,” he revealed. “It is the most important and significant collection for me. I drew inspiration from the colourful, multifaceted culture and history of countries around the world. The keyword here is multifaceted.” For this project, Tuzlukov began by conceptualising ideas and manifesting these into sketches and diagrams. The diagrams, in turn, guided the faceting process. Colours, meanwhile, were critical to the choice of materials. “The specific gem correlated with the design idea,” he explained. Dainty Sakura flowers, for instance, are integral to Japanese culture. For this reason, I chose pink kunzite to best represent Japan. Ancient Greece, meanwhile, was surrounded by water and all life related to the sea, so I opted for aquamarine.” Tuzlukov’s exponential rise in the global coloured gemstone scene forever the changed the game for lapidarists. Over the years, his talent in achieving remarkable cuts and facets has become the benchmark for exceptionality and true artisanship. A marine navigator and economist by profession, Tuzlukov began his career in lapidary 25 years ago after cutting his first gem. He then obtained a Graduate Gemologist degree from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in Moscow, Russia, and started winning competitions and collecting laurels globally. He is the only gemstone cutter to be included in the Guinness World Records (three times). In 2023, he was named one of the “Extraordinary 40” by Informa’s Jewellery World Awards, which celebrates industry champions whose innovative ideas, relentless drive and remarkable achievements have transformed the jewellery community. Victor Tuzlukov’s enchanting world of gems “Faces of Perfection” (Japan); “Blood and Sand” (Roman Empire); “Ariadna’s Thread” (Ancient Greece); “Arabian Night” (Persia); “Giving Life (Ancient Egypt); and “Crosswalk of Civilizations” (Spain)

Captivating pink pearls are the centre of attraction at Ocean Flame Ltd’s booth at Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong. Based in Hong Kong since 1996, the company specialises in natural pearls, specifically pink pearls from the Caribbean exhibiting exceptional flame structure and colour. In a previous interview, company owner Bertrand Ternat revealed that Ocean Flame’s largest markets are Asia, Europe and the US. Considered among the rarest natural gems in the world, conch pearls remain highly sought after by traders and jewellery collectors who appreciate their beauty and investment value. Ocean Flame earlier developed a colour and flame grading system for conch pearls, which has been embraced by the market since its introduction. The system classifies conch pearls into categories based on colour intensity. “Flame structure is the fingerprint of the pearls. It gives them their uniqueness,” remarked Ternat. The oval-shaped gem is naturally formed by fibrous crystals inside a rare sea snail called conch. It is non-nacreous, meaning it is not made of nacre or mother-ofpearl. Only one out of 10,000 to 15,000 shells produce a conch pearl and only 10 per cent of these are of gem quality. Hunting for the pearl can be challenging. “One must remember that conch pearls are natural, not cultured. They come directly from the sea and their colour cannot be altered or enhanced,” he continued.
