SHOW DAILY by JNA • 10 NEWS JewelleryNet.com Day 5 • 20 September 2024 Hong Kong is reinforcing its position as a leading jewellery manufacturing centre through splendid collections that are enchanting buyers at Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW). Legrand Jewellery (Mfg) Co Ltd is presenting jewellery collections that blend creative design, intricate craftsmanship and the latest manufacturing technology. Its booth at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre features intricate sapphire and diamond jewellery pieces, among others. The selection includes a 1.64-carat sapphire and diamond ring, a 1.56-carat sapphire and diamond pendant, and a pair of earrings with a total of 2.12 carats of sapphires and 1.43 carats of diamonds. “Our dedication to excellence is made possible by 250 skilled staff working at our advanced production facility,” said the company, which has been manufacturing and exporting fine diamond and gemstone jewellery since 1986. Another of Hong Kong’s celebrated companies, Continental Jewellery (Mfg) Ltd, is showcasing refined pieces that mark its 50-year journey in the trade. Among its offerings for JGW this year are glamorous diamond rings in either 18-karat or 14-karat white gold. One boasts a geometric pattern with baguette and round diamonds while another features marquise diamonds and pear-shaped blue sapphires. Diamond chain link earrings sparkling with 154 pieces of rounds and enhanced with eight baguette diamonds totalling 1.0 carat are another major draw at its booth. A member of the Responsible Jewellery Council, Continental is recognised in international markets as a preeminent supplier and a one-stopshop for the design, manufacture, marketing and delivery of fine jewellery collections. The Osmium-Institut Zur Inverkehrbringung Und Zertifizierung Von Osmium GmbH is at Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW) to highlight the potential of crystalline osmium as a jewellery material. Sourced as a by-product of platinum mining, osmium is one of the world’s rarest precious metals, said the institute. Only 30 grams of osmium can be found in 10,000 tonnes of platinum ore. In its crystallised form, it is the last of the eight precious metals to be made tradeable in the market. As of September 11, 2024, the price of osmium stood at US$1,587.92 per gram. Highly sought after as a store of wealth, crystalline osmium has been used in luxury watches, high-end consumer goods such as headphones and even collectible pieces such as the world’s most valuable newly built violin. It is now gaining more popularity in the jewellery world as inlays and accents for upmarket pieces. Hong Kong-based Tania Chan is the first highend jewellery designer in Asia to use osmium in her jewellery designs. These were launched at JGW and are on display at the Osmium Institute’s booth in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Pure raw osmium is crystallised in Switzerland and certified in Germany before distribution in the market. According to the institute, each crystalline osmium piece has a unique crystal structure. Every single piece is scanned and documented with an identification code in the Osmium World Database, making it unforgeable. For its part, Able Jewelry Mfg Ltd is displaying a selection of fine jewellery in 9-karat to 18-karat gold set with diamonds, gemstones and pearls. These include butterfly necklaces with diamonds and a series of pink and blue sapphire rings with diamonds. The company also offers collections with synthetic gemstones. Over at Nelson Jewellery Arts Co Ltd’s booth, the spotlight is shining on ruby, emerald and sapphire necklaces, among others. The Hong Kong-based jeweller is launching a half-collar necklace in 18-karat gold featuring 11 emeralds with a combined weight of 43.96 carats, complemented by 661 diamonds weighing 35.52 carats. Another standout piece is a necklace adorned with 118 rubies totalling 72.52 carats and 1,416 diamonds with a combined carat weight of 26.94 carats. Likewise drawing buyers’ admiration is a diamond necklace with 15.90 carats of sapphires. Established in 1980, Nelson Jewellery Arts is the only jewellery manufacturer to receive the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) Productivity Award three times. Its factories in China are equipped with advanced technology to maximise productivity and develop innovative highquality jewellery products.
