Diamond jewellery is shining bright at the finished jewellery section of JGW at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Zuri Jewelry Co Ltd yesterday unveiled its new “Love through the ages” collection, produced in collaboration with renowned artist Steven Choi. Company director Victor Yiu said, “We aim to introduce creative concepts that resonate with younger consumers, ultimately driving sales. Feedback has been positive, particularly among top-tier jewellery brands.” Bruno Scarselli of Scarselli Diamonds, meanwhile, said large yellow diamonds are highly favoured as these are the most competitively priced among other coveted fancy colour diamonds. The company is showcasing an expansive range of fancy colour diamonds, led by blues, pinks and yellows. In its display windows at AsiaWorld-Expo is an impressive 51.13-carat VVS2 fancy intense yellow diamond valued at US$2.5 million. “Buyers are very enthusiastic to own larger diamonds that keep their value,” shared Bruno. Demand for a wide variety of coloured gems is also strong, said Nirmal Bardiya, chairman of RMC Group. RMC is shining the spotlight on a wide array of coloured gemstones at the show, led by its bestsellers – Paraiba tourmaline, aquamarine, rubellite, morganite and tsavorite, to name a few. Companies are also using JGW as a platform to showcase its commitment to Environmental, Social and Governmental (ESG) matters. De Beers Group’s booth at Hall 3 of HKCEC uses 100 per cent recycled materials, fully natural flooring and eco-friendly paint, among other sustainable measures. “Our ‘Sustainability Booth’ is part of our Building Forever strategy, which builds on decades of work and De Beers Group’s commitment to being a leader in driving ethical practices across the diamond industry,” explained Maria Olivas, De Beers’ vice president, Industry Engagement and Corporate Brand Experience. According to Olivas, 28 per cent of the booth is made up of hired products, 61 per cent of the materials will be reused for other shows, and 11 per cent of items will be recycled through local donations. In addition, the plants in the booth’s living wall improve the condition of the air and will be donated to a charity post-show.
