SHOW DAILY by JNA • 8 NEWS JewelleryNet.com Day 2 • 19 September 2023 Greenlab Diamonds LLP wants to impress buyers with its expansive assortment of lab-grown diamonds (LGD) in exclusive cuts and designs alongside customisation services for buyers eyeing personalised jewellery pieces. Other highlights of the company’s product offerings are a collection of fancy colour LGDs in vibrant hues such as pink, blue, yellow and green as well as intricately designed lab-grown diamond jewellery pieces. According to Sanket Patel, director of Greenlab Diamonds, the company specialises in chemical vapour deposition diamonds in all sizes and clarity grades; loose LGDs and LGD jewellery; and larger parcel goods of more than 20 carats in a wide variety of shapes. “Lab-grown diamonds offer greater consistency and customisation,” remarked Patel. “LGDs can be produced with specific characteristics, allowing for better matching and customisation. They are also more affordable than their natural counterparts, making them a more accessible option for consumers.” Brazilian emerald specialist Belmont is aiming to fascinate visitors at Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW) with an exquisite assortment of polished emeralds sourced directly from its mine. According to Marcelo Ribeiro, president of Belmont, the vibrant colour, exceptional brilliance and superior cut of Belmont emeralds have sparked an increasingly enthusiastic response from Asian consumers, who have been exhibiting a growing appreciation for emeralds of Brazilian origin. While JGW welcomes buyers from many countries around the world, Asia’s growing interest for Brazilian emeralds opens significant opportunities for Belmont. “We anticipate new potential clients from Asia coming to our booth as we have been noticing an increasing interest in Belmont’s emeralds and the sustainable aspects of our operation,” said Ribeiro. And as Asian consumers are also increasingly interested in the sustainability credentials of their purchases, Belmont is highlighting its mine-tomarket chain of custody for its emeralds. Its drive for progress is indeed intertwined with its dedication to sustainability. Belmont has consistently been at the forefront of sustainable and responsible mining aimed at minimising its environmental footprint. It is currently in the process of installing a power plant designed to supply renewable energy for its entire operation. Innovation is likewise at the heart of its operations. The miner has invested in new laser sorting machines, which could help boost its processing capabilities threefold. Ribeiro noted, “This enhancement not only elevates our efficiency but also empowers us to provide the industry with an even greater quantity of emeralds of the highest quality.” Greenlab Diamonds is training its sights on buyers from Hong Kong as well as major jewellery retail chains from mainland China. So far, the US and Europe are driving the strongest demand for LGDs. “More Chinese consumers are seeking luxury products as the middle-class market continues to expand. This presents a valuable opportunity for LGD companies,” explained Patel. “Lab-grown diamonds offer a chance for buyers to own a high-quality diamond at a lower price point. This affordability factor is particularly appealing to the price-sensitive Chinese market.” Patel also expects stronger growth in the LGD sector, owing to rising consumer preference for ethical and sustainable jewellery and higher disposable income of target buyers. The company is showcasing an extensive selection of conch pearls, top-billed by a magnificent gem-quality layout of 28 conch pearls from 3 carats to 10 carats. Also on display at the fair are natural oyster pearls of the Pinctada and Pteria species. According to Bertrand Ternat, owner of Ocean Flame, conch pearls are coveted for their exceptional colour and flame-like structure, with Asia as the largest market, followed by North America, Europe and the Middle East. “We are excited to meet clients from all over the world now that the September Fair is back,” stated Ternat. “We deal with different segments and markets, and we welcome the opportunity to once again liaise with our traditional clients face to face and meet new and prospective customers.” The company official remains upbeat about the future of conch pearls, adding that the beloved pink pearl will most likely follow the growth trajectory experienced by other emerging gemstones in the industry. According to Ternat, consumer education; the broadening reach of pearls in Asian markets and other countries; and the conch pearl’s unparalleled exceptionality will drive steady business in the trade. Customers have become more knowledgeable and accepting of conch pearls, and this has bolstered unprecedented demand for the gem. Keen interest mostly comes from Asian buyers, but conch pearls are also gaining popularity in other markets. And what attracts them the most about conch pearls is their rarity. “We see a bright future for natural pearls in general, conch pearls particularly. Prices are bound to keep rising as conch pearls remain undervalued for the time being,” noted Ternat. “Conch pearls exhibit such a bright and feminine charm that immediately lights up one’s mood. They are happy, beautiful gems.” Conch pearls from Ocean Flame Thailand’s sparkling selection of rubies and sapphires Thailand-based gemstone manufacturers are looking to regale professional trade buyers with their expansive ranges of rubies and sapphires at Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW).
