Without international travel, companies had to find alternative ways to supply pearls to clients. Pearl specialist Atlas Pearls rose to the challenge. According to Kym Weir-Smith, marketing manager at Atlas Pearls, the company developed a bespoke online auction platform, which it launched in November 2020, to ensure continued supply of pearls to its clients. It hosted its first full- harvest digital sale the following month. “The online platform proved to be highly successful with clients participating from all over the world including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, the US and Spain,” shared Weir-Smith. “Its success reflects the agile nature of Atlas Pearls in harnessing opportunities.” Supported by Atlas’ own app, the platform generated sales from customers that traditional networks did not reach and is now a key part of the company’s multifaceted sales strategy.
