PEARL REPORT | 29 | 2021-2022 創新科技 It is specifically and exclusively for three major types of cultured pearls, namely Akoya, South Sea and Tahitian, on the condition that no previous identification or advanced testing has been performed on the pearl. If a pearl is found by GIA gemmologists as having been modified by treatment, except in routine processes, or not belonging to one of the accepted pearl categories, the pearl service will automatically change to a pearl identification report. Clients may submit loose pearls or those mounted, strung, or in a fixed design layout for a strand or jewellery item. The Cultured Pearl Classification service includes a detailed classification of the cultured pearl based on the GIA 7 Pearl Value Factors™ – size, shape, colour, lustre, surface, nacre and matching – as well as a digital image of the item.
