Meanwhile, 90 per cent of construction materials, including furniture and fixtures, within Jewelmer’s main offices and pearl farms are sourced from recycled trash, which is turned into Polyboard – a sustainable and waterproof alternative to traditional building materials like plywood. Moreover, hard-to-recycle Styrofoam buoys from pearl farms are collected, cleaned and melted into plastic blocks by a recycling company. In addition, used oil from over 150 engines of boats and power generators from the farms are sent to recycling centres and repurposed into tarmac for roads. Such ethical practices resonate deeply with environmentally conscious consumers, Branellec said.
