In its "Cartier and Women" exhibition that ran from April to August this year at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, the luxury brand displayed 300 of its exquisite jewellery, timepieces and rare items that highlighted the influence of women in its illustrious history. Among these veritable treasures curated from the brand’s archives and from private collections were several platinum masterpieces that melded the metal’s excellent characteristics and Cartier's masterful craftsmanship and design inspirations. Over the past century, Cartier has been the jeweller of choice for royalty and nobility, earning the title of the "Jeweller of Kings and King of Jewellers." Its unparalleled platinum inlay techniques solidify its position as one of the world’s finest jewellers. Platinum has always been at the heart of Cartier’s jewellery world. Second-generation owner Louis Cartier was among its first proponents. He once described platinum as "the King of Precious Metals," highlighting its importance to the Cartier brand. The exhibition thus featured numerous platinum pieces meticulously produced by Cartier craftsmen, including several royal crowns and tiaras that embodied the authority, discipline and grandeur of royal families. Adorned with fine gemstones, each precious jewel is regally and timelessly glorious, reaffirming Cartier's superior command of design as well as platinum’s tenacity and resilience.
