His legacy is forever entwined with the golden South Sea pearl – the gem that he dedicated his life’s work to perfecting in harmony with nature. His journey began in French Polynesia in the 1970s, where he cultivated Tahitian pearls. Fate eventually led him to Palawan, Philippines, where he pioneered the cultivation of golden South Sea pearls. In 1979, he co-founded Jewelmer with Filipino entrepreneur Manuel Cojuangco, and a decade later, the company produced its first golden pearl, which became the centrepiece of Jewelmer’s refined collections and the National Gem of the Philippines. Branellec’s business acumen and extensive industry knowledge propelled Jewelmer to lofty heights over the years, with the company gaining significant global following due to its distinctive appeal as a pearl enterprise born from the meeting of two cultures.
