ADVERTORIAL 软文 24 | JNA November/December 2023 Platinum is reaffirming its role as an important innovator and differentiator to capture the trends influencing the jewellery business. With its superior metal attribute, platinum continues to offer new design and manufacturing options driven by technological breakthroughs, as well as unrivalled ability to meet growing consumer demand for responsible jewellery. According to Tai Wong, Director of Global Innovation and Product Development of Platinum Guild International (PGI®), platinum’s innovative spirit and responsible ethos align with key trends shaping the future of jewellery. ESG conversation Platinum is fully committed in the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) conversation. PGI collects and publishes information on ESG initiatives and developments in the platinum mining industry. A member of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) and The World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO), PGI works with various authorities to establish industry standards and nomenclature, including the rising need to identify ESG standards creating sustainable supply chains. Platinum is a rare metal with limited source and origin. It is in a perfect position as a responsibly sourced metal for the modern consumer. As consumers gravitate towards the importance of responsibility and sustainability, storytelling and transparency are becoming pivotal to the sales process. PGI is thus discussing the impact of transparency and sustainability on consumer experience with various organisations, from De Beers to certification bodies like IGI to traceability digital platform Tracr™, among others. It is equally important to discuss the origin and processing of metal and not just the diamond and gemstone, in order to fully realise the promise of responsible jewellery. Wong said, “We continue to work on platinum’s responsible mining and sourcing in order to achieve a transparent supply chain. It is critical that the trade works together to advance this assurance for the consumers. We are working internationally and domestically with supply chains, retailers, regulatory bodies and agencies, and diamond suppliers across the trade.” Metal of the future Also driving the growth of the jewellery industry is innovation, an area that PGI has made tremendous strides in during the last five years. “Aside from jewellery-specific innovations, we can borrow the science, research and technology from industrial initiatives to benefit jewellery applications,” Wong said. "Industrial innovations, such as customised alloys and metal processing, can be adapted to offer semi-finished products with jewellery specifications.” These include unique alloys for casting, extruded platinum tubes that optimises CNC for platinum rings, drawn wires to produce finer chains, and platinum powder Platinum: Shaping the future of jewellery 以铂金塑造珠宝的未来 Platinum Guild International Global Director of Innovation and Product Development Tai Wong; Jewellery collections from the Pt® Edition programme; Speakers at the Platinum Guild International (PGI®) conference on September 21, 2023 during Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong; PGI booth at Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong 2023 国际铂金协会(PGI®)全球创新和产品开发部总监黄震泰; Pt® Edition项目的珠宝系列;于2023年9月21日在环球盛事 | 九月香 港珠宝首饰展览会期间举办的国际铂金协会(PGI®)会议的演讲嘉宾;国际铂金协会(PGI®) 在2023年环球盛事 | 九月香港珠宝首饰展览会上的展位
