JNA May/ June 2023

PERSPECTIVE 24 | JNA May/June 2023 ICA The International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) is aiming to further raise its profile in the international trade through consistent, industry-backed initiatives that centre on ethical and responsible practices, social agenda and educating new and existing markets about coloured gemstones. Damien Cody, recently appointed president of ICA, lays down the association’s roadmap to growth and longevity. JNA: Tell us about new directions and projects at ICA. What is going to change with you at its helm? Damien Cody: ICA’s focus has always been about promoting coloured gemstones and looking for new avenues and platforms to do that. ICA will talk to major trade show organisers to ensure a strategic location for our members. We will strengthen our accredited ethical membership (AEM) programme, a voluntary self-assessment declaring a member’s responsible business practices. We encourage our members to undertake this. We are also developing a business plan for the next four years with a new board of directors. | Bernardette Sto.
