This is also true for the jewellery sector, according to trend forecasters – this author included – and industry experts who shared with JNA their views on post-lockdown trends and design directions. According to them, jewellery pieces that reflect optimism, those that feature organic textures, and designs that celebrate sustainability and diversity are key trend themes for 2022. Trend watch According to Paola de Luca, founder and creative director of The Futurist Ltd, digitalisation has created a cultural osmosis that triggered significant changes. “The world has become closer. People have changed their perspective and approach to many things – from personal taste and religion to social interactions. This change has inherently impacted our lifestyle and product manifestation,” she said. The post-pandemic effect on jewellery design codes and consumer priorities remains relevant. Themes commemorating sustainability, well-being and “looking inwards” are also expected to impact jewellery designs, added De Luca. For this author, who was a contributing editor in Trendbook 2023+ launched at the Vicenzaoro Jewellery Boutique Show last year, jewellery is increasingly viewed as modern vessels of hope, charged with powerful messages, memories and energetic thoughts and emotions. General design directions will focus on soothing consumers’ minds, helping them connect with nature and bringing joy to the forefront of their lives. The wellness and spirituality trend is also finding its way to the jewellery sphere. Spiritual well-being is expressed through beaded bracelets and universal talismans, which sell fast, regardless of one’s religion. This nod towards sentimental jewellery stems from a deep desire to reconnect with oneself, attributing personal meaning to these pieces. Jewellery designs with elements of positivity and hope alongside pieces that embrace sustainability, diversity and equality are likely to gain traction in the trade going forward. 具备乐观和希望的元素,并响应 可持续发展、多元化与平等概念的珠宝设计,将会在珠宝市场 上大放异彩。
