JWA 2021 Jewellery Industry Best Practices

54 | Jewellery World Awards 2021 Whether by safeguarding the workforce against COVID-19 or by introducing a well- received line of silver products to the market, Dhiaan Srinivasan contributes to the growth of one of India’s most respected jewellery businesses. “Coming into a successful family business as a second-generation entrepreneur is a daunting task due to the expectations and comparisons that inadvertently come with the privilege,” says Dhiaan, Director for Business Development at Emerald Jewel Industry India Limited. “That’s why it’s important for next-gen businesspeople such as myself to establish their personal credibility, as well as possess the innate ability to distinguish good ideas from bad ones.” SILVER MARKET In 2019, Dhiaan led the launch of Zilara by JewelOne – a brand that aims to capture a chunk of India’s growing silver jewellery market. On top of that, he aimed to create a “zero-risk” business model that would help the brand reach 5,000 points of sales across the country by 2024. “We strongly believe that collaboration is essential in building business structures that work. Through innovative formats like shop-in-shop (SIS) outlets, we were able to realise our vision by ensuring that there’s complete flexibility in the business structure, and that all of our establishments do not come with fixed overhead costs,” he explains. Under his leadership, Zilara by JewelOne’s network has grown to include more than 100 SIS showrooms in four states, more than 30 cities and in over 25 districts.
