With this realisation in mind, the company took the cudgels for raising the bar in gemstone-cutting and polishing. First, Brilliant Cuts created a specialised department to research ways on how to further enhance the appearance of locally mined gemstones. Second, it established a technical team to develop equipment such as sawing machines and cam copying machines, and new cutting and calibrating devices. One such by-product of these initiatives is the “Heart & Arrow” sapphire cut, which Brilliant Cuts now offers. With its resources and expertise, the gemstone manufacturer has the capability to offer customised cuts. The process starts off with the team replicating a client’s stone, identifying the rough material’s refractive index and angles, and developing cuts approved by the gemstone owner.
