21 JNA AWARDS 2012 The Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies (IDI) is a non-profit, public interest company that represents all the organisations and institutions involved in Israel’s diamond industry. Its main functions include marketing and business development, promotion of rough diamond trading, professional training, security consultancy, and technological research and development. IDI thus acts as the driving force behind the industry’s search for new markets and methods, searches for new sources of rough diamonds for the Israeli diamond industry, advises on security-related matters, invests in R&D to promote new diamond manufacturing technologies and coordinates industry participation and events at major trade fairs. IDI operates representative offices in key diamond trade centres such as New York and Hong Kong.
