Jewellers are embracing fresh materials, artistic inspirations and advanced technology to create exciting new designs and style iterations that catch the fancy of highly perceptive customers.
The use of unconventional materials and cutting-edge techniques have become quite the norm. Case in point is esteemed jewellery brand Boucheron, which unveiled its new Carte Blanche Collection, “Impermanence,” in 2025.
Inspired by ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement, and the philosophy of wabi-sabi, Boucheron Creative Director Claire Choisne created six botanical compositions, capturing the fleeting beauty of nature using innovative techniques.
From “Composition N°6” to “Composition N°1,” this dazzling collection includes 28 transformable high jewellery pieces that can be worn as a brooch, bracelet, necklace, headpiece, ring or body jewel.
Composition N°5, for instance, features spiky thistle heads that were 3D-printed using plant-based resin – an unconventional material in high jewellery. This approach posed a challenge for the artisans: Without a metal structure, setting a single diamond seemed impossible. They pioneered a new setting technique, sewing more than 800 diamonds into the thistles’ alveoli by hand.

Tiffany & Co’s Blue Book 2025: Sea of Wonder, meanwhile, exemplifies artistry, craftsmanship and contemporary appeal, elevating high jewellery to new heights with its rich storytelling.
Tiffany & Co Chief Artistic Officer Nathalie Verdeille continues to take inspiration from Jean Schlumberger’s legendary aquatic designs and his love of the mysterious universe with the introduction of six new themes: Seahorse, Sea Turtle, Ocean Flora, Starfish, Urchin and Wave.
“This collection represents the very foundations of our House: Inventive design, expert craftsmanship and, of course, gemstones of extreme rarity. Each piece in our latest Blue Book captivates and invites us to lose ourselves in the rich storytelling as we embark on a journey through uncharted realms of the deep sea,” said Verdeille.

Legendary jeweller Bulgari, for its part, is breaking new ground with its first traceability app, Connected Jewels, for high jewellery. This app recognises jewellery pieces by reading engraved serial numbers as small as 0.7mm. Through instant and simple authentication via smartphone, clients can access the Bulgari Digital Passport for full transparency on the products and their components.
By offering clients full traceability from mine to masterpiece, Bulgari added even more value to its one-of-a-kind creations from its Polychroma High Jewellery Collection.
“With Connected Jewels, we are redefining what innovation means in the world of high jewellery. By seamlessly integrating cutting-edge technology with Bulgari’s timeless standards of beauty and craftsmanship, we are creating a new paradigm, one where the client experience is elevated in both meaning and emotion,” said Bulgari CEO Jean-Christophe Babin.
Jewellery is no longer defined solely by rarity and tradition. Masterpieces evolve with the times, absorbing influences from technology, culture and art. Today’s novelties foreshadow a future that is both daring and meaningful – encapsulating elegance, rich narrative and creative passion in equal measure.
