Lewis Heyman stepped down as co-president and head buyer of US-based fine jeweller Oscar Heyman at the end of June 2025, following close to three decades in the company.
Oscar Heyman was founded in 1912 by brothers Oscar, Nathan and Harry Heyman and remains a family-run enterprise today. Lewis is Harry’s grandson.
Company President Tom Heyman commented, “We are grateful for Lewis' unwavering commitment to excellence and the connections he has developed with the most reliable and trustworthy gem dealers around the world. Lewis will be missed, and his enthusiasm lives on in our gem acquisition team.”
During his tenure, Lewis expanded the brand’s gemstone relationships to include gem cutters from across the globe, including Australia, Brazil, Bangkok, Colombia, France, Hong Kong, Germany, India, Japan, Sri Lanka and Switzerland.
His love of travel and global connections served him well when he joined Oscar Heyman’s gem sourcing team in 1997.
He travelled abroad multiple times each year in search of premium-quality gemstones, and managed and worked closely with a team of gemstone experts to ensure that only gems of the highest quality make it to the workbench of Oscar Heyman's jewellers.
Throughout his career, Lewis has been engaged in many industry groups, including the 24 Karat Club, and both AGTA (American Gem Trade Association) and NYGA (New York Gemstone Association) as the primary representative from Oscar Heyman.
“I enter retirement knowing that Oscar Heyman remains one of the finest jewellery brands in the world with a truly exceptional staff,” noted Lewis.
