Israel’s diamond trade recorded sturdy growth during the first half of the year, which the country attributed to steady demand and generally more favourable business conditions.
Latest government data showed all major trade categories exhibited solid growth from January to June 2022, continuing an upward trend of the past 18 months.
Rough diamond imports during the period in review reached US$1.01 billion, up 1.4 per cent year on year while rough diamond exports rose 6.4 per cent to US$966 million.
Polished diamond imports meanwhile amounted to US$1.78 billion, an increase of 28.7 per cent from 2021 while polished diamond exports reached US$2.23 billion, up 30 per cent year on year.
Israel Diamond Exchange President Boaz Moldawsky said the Israel diamond industry continued to see positive trend amid geopolitical and macroeconomic challenges.
