Sotheby’s is introducing a new high-end auction series in Hong Kong that highlights the season’s most sought-after luxury jewellery pieces, among other collectables.
RE(LUX) – A Luxury Sale Series comes on the heels of Sotheby’s record US$1 billion luxury sales in 2021. Scheduled for February, the series presents a curated collection of jewellery, watches, wine and spirits, handbags and sneakers to be offered through live and online auctions.
“This remixed format is a testament to the new definition of luxury and the evolving role played by auction houses in the sector,” revealed Sotheby’s.
The Hong Kong exhibition, to be held from February 11 to 17, will shine the spotlight on a diamond, emerald and sapphire dragonfly brooch from Van Cleef & Arpels, a set of jadeite cabochons as well as emerging coloured gemstone favourites alexandrite and Paraíba tourmaline, which are continuously rising in popularity.
Demand for Paraíba tourmalines is steadily growing, thanks to the gem's distinctive neon-like blue colour while alexandrite is favoured for its colour-changing feature, noted the auction house.
