Pramod Kumar Agrawal, chairman of India's Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), was recently elected as one of the three vice presidents of CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation.
Agrawal’s nomination by CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri was confirmed at the 2019 CIBJO Congress in Bahrain.
He will serve a two-year term as vice president alongside Roland Naftule from the US, a former president of the International Colored Gemstone Association and the American Gem Trade Association, and former member of the board of governors of the Gemological Institute of America; and Jonathan Kendall from the United Kingdom, president of the De Beers Group Institute of Diamonds and De Beers Group Industry Services.
Cavalieri will serve as CIBJO president for another term.
“Given the primary role that India plays in almost all sectors of the industry, it is absolutely necessary that the country be appropriately represented in the leadership of our confederation,” said Cavalieri. “With his acumen and vast experience, Pramod is the right person to fill the role. I am confident that he will make a significant contribution to the important work that we do.”
