An eclectic array of fancy colour diamonds in dazzling shapes and colours is going under the hammer at the second edition of ALROSA’s True Colors auction to be held on the sidelines of the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair.
Leading diamond miner ALROSA said around 200 polished diamonds certified by the Gemological Institute of America will be available for viewing at the show from September 16 to 20.
The sale will be conducted via the company’s online platform, diamonds.alrosa.ru, from September 16 to 23. Results will be announced on September 24.
Among the auction’s star offerings are an internally flawless intense yellow pear-shaped diamond of 18.07 carats; a 6.78-carat vivid yellow square emerald-cut diamond of VVS2 clarity grade; and a pair of vivid purplish-pink pear-shaped diamonds – a VVS1 stone of 0.54 carat and an IF stone of 0.55 carat.
According to the company, True Colors is a rare opportunity to buy polished diamonds directly from the source without third parties.
“ALROSA manufactures top-grade fancy colour polished diamonds and big-sized stones, and sells those at international auctions. We cut our diamonds in accordance with renowned Russian jewellery traditions. These diamonds are of the highest quality and have a good reputation,” noted the company.
The first True Colors auction, held in September 2018, sold 210 unique diamonds and generated US$9 million in revenues.
At this year’s auction, Alrosa is offering a comprehensive origin story for every stone for the first time. Thanks to Alrosa’s traceability programmes, the consumers can witness the diamonds’ fascinating journey from mine and market. “With a closed production cycle, the company can guarantee the origin of every polished diamond, especially since it has its own unique ID,” revealed the miner.
Every diamond has its own customisable movie, which is available on diamonds.alrosa.ru. Prospective buyers can also find a special extended digital diamond passport with information about its origin along with standard characteristics.
