A scintillating array of gems is dazzling professional trade buyers at Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW) 2025 at the AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE).
Miranda Group (Brazil & Africa) Ltd is shining the spotlight on its Rubelite Ouro Fino Collection, consisting of stunning layouts of rubellites from one of its associate mines in Nigeria. According to Cam Li, managing director of Miranda Group, the gems in this collection bear exceptional qualities and colours comparable to those found in the renowned Ouro Fino Mine in Minas Gerais, Brazil, which was discovered three decades ago.
“Rubellites featured in the Rubelite Ouro Fino Collection are meticulously cut and polished to the highest quality. This collection celebrates rubellites for their ruby-like tones of lustrous pink-red to red colour and nearly flawless quality,” Li said.
Meanwhile, a spectacular 21.35-carat heart-shaped diamond is glittering in the display window of Venus Jewel. Company Head of Marketing & PR Jagat Thakkar said the D-colour VS1 diamond is valued at an estimated US$1.5 million.
Venus Jewel is off to a strong start at JGW 2025, with the diamantaire already meeting with serious buyers from Hong Kong and China on the first day of the show, according to Thakkar.
Over at Ceylon Fine Gems Pvt Ltd, pride of place belongs to a pink sapphire of over 20 carats as well as a pair of alexandrites of some 9 carats each, certified by SSEF. Milfer Caffoor, director of the Sri Lankan fine gemstone company, said, “Gem-quality alexandrites of this size are generally quite difficult to find in pairs.”
Caffoor noted heightened demand from Europe and India for gem-quality coloured gemstones, with blue, pink and Padparadscha sapphires moving particularly well.
JGW: Gemstones, JGW: Diamonds & Fine Gems and JGW: Pearls+ opened at the AWE yesterday. JGW: Hong Kong, JGW: International and JGW: Fine Design will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from September 17 to 21.
Informa Markets Jewellery Director of Jewellery Fairs Celine Lau said, “JGW arrives at precisely the right moment – offering a platform where innovation, insight and opportunity converge. During periods of market uncertainty, strong relationships become our most precious asset. These face-to-face interactions allow us to strengthen partnerships, gather real-time market intelligence and make confident, informed decisions that will carry our businesses forward.”
