Affordable luxury, gender-fluid designs and themed collections are expected to figure extensively in jewellers’ 2025 offerings, according to industry experts.
To maintain their competitive edge in the global market, jewellery manufacturers and designers must adapt to evolving consumer demands and diversify their products, said Winston Chow, director and deputy general manager of Hong Kong-based Chow Sang Sang Holdings International Ltd.
As younger buyers increasingly account for a larger share of the jewellery market, affordable luxury jewellery options with more modern and stylish designs for everyday wear will gain traction in the market, he added.
There is also growing demand from male consumers. “Unisex jewellery with gender-neutral designs would cater to their needs. This kind of jewellery represents a ‘blue ocean’ market for the industry to explore,” revealed Chow at a press conference for the March Hong Kong Fairs 2025.
Meanwhile, Lawrence Ma, founding president of the Diamond Federation of Hong Kong, China, said cultural elements are a significant source of inspiration for jewellery designers.
Themed collections that incorporate animal motifs like snakes and pandas increasingly adorn jewellery display windows to coincide with celebrations and current events such as The Year of the Snake and the so-called “panda economy” in Hong Kong.
Zuri Jewelry Co Ltd, for instance, is launching its “Panda and Bamboo” jewellery collection featuring designs inspired by beloved giant pandas in Hong Kong, An An and Ke Ke.
Chow said these jewellery trends are expected to feature prominently at the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, which takes place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from March 4 to 8, 2025. The Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show opens today at the AsiaWorld-Expo and runs until March 6, 2025.
