Lustrous pearls take pride of place in the inspired collections of high-end jewellers, demonstrating the gems’ unparalleled sophistication and versatility.
Tiffany & Co’s Blue Book 2023: Out of the Blue, designed by the company’s Chief Artistic Officer Nathalie Verdeille, is a glittering assortment of jewellery pieces celebrating legendary French jewellery designer Jean Schlumberger’s fascination with marine creatures.
Among the bespoke pieces is an impressive platinum necklace adorned with alternating layers of resplendent Akoya pearls and diamonds. Resting among the pearls and diamonds is a striking blue spinel. The versatile mother-of-pearl, meanwhile, figures in some of the pieces.
Celebrated pearl specialist Mikimoto is also paying homage to the ocean with its latest high jewellery collection, Praise to the Sea. Some highlights include a multi-tiered Akoya pearl necklace with sapphires and diamonds in 18-karat white gold and a platinum ring with sapphires, tourmalines and diamonds and a white South Sea pearl centre stone.
A special necklace in 18-karat white gold, embellished with Akoya pearls, diamonds and coloured gemstones, showcases a unique design that gives an illusion of a sea creature afloat in mesmerising blue waters.
