Coloured gemstones – led by perennial favourites sapphires, emeralds and rubies – continue to fascinate traders and enthusiasts the world over, thanks to their versatility and inimitable charm.
Other gemstones are also taking the jewellery world by storm as buyers increasingly favour goods that come in a broader variety of types, colours and price range.
Nirmal Bardiya, chairman of RMC Group, said having an eclectic inventory bodes well for RMC as it can meet soaring market demand for a rich assortment of gems. The company’s bestsellers include Paraiba tourmaline, aquamarine, rubellite, morganite and tsavorite, to name a few.
Discerning buyers are constantly on the lookout for exceptional gems, according to Swiss coloured gems expert ALine GmbH. At Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong, which concluded on September 24, 2023, the company presented a collection of no-heat ruby, spinel, tsavorite, tourmaline and spessartite garnet, which delighted customers from China, Hong Kong and Europe.
Meanwhile, conventional darlings such as emeralds will always command attention in the trade, Michael Gad, president of Michael Gad Emeralds, said. Buyers continue to be drawn to the emerald’s vivid green colour amid escalating prices. Emerald prices have gone up by 30 per cent since September last year, he added.
