Lucara Diamond Corp has recovered a high-quality 36.92-carat Type IIB blue diamond from the Karowe mine in Botswana.
The diamond was discovered through x-ray transmission machines at Karowe from ore sourced from stockpile material, the company said. In addition to the blue diamond, five stones weighing more than 100 carats were also unearthed from the beginning of the fiscal year.
William Lamb, president and CEO of Lucara, said the blue diamond from Karowe "again reinforces the special nature of this asset."
"Recoveries such as this demonstrate the value contained within the company's surface stockpiles, which remain an important source of mill feed and a contributor to ongoing diamond recoveries," continued Lamb.
