The Hong Kong Indian Diamond Association (HKIDA) and the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at strengthening two-way trade.
The agreement, inked on October 12, 2025, is geared towards advancing and facilitating business and cooperation between diamond merchants in India and Hong Kong. It establishes mutual access and collaboration between members of both organisations to encourage smoother interactions and growth opportunities.
HKIDA, established in 2015, is a group of Hong Kong-based Indian diamond traders whose mandate is to promote natural diamonds while BDB is the world’s largest diamond bourse based in Mumbai.
Among the MoU’s key objectives is to strengthen the diamond, gem and jewellery trade between India and Hong Kong.
Under the agreement, HKIDA members now have easier access to BDB for business visits and interactions – without requiring a specific invitation from a BDB member.
In addition, both parties will collaborate to promote trade, create networking opportunities and provide mutual support to respective members.
Specifically, HKIDA will promote BDB’s initiatives and keep members informed about relevant trade events and opportunities and vice versa while BDB will provide access to HKIDA members and extend cooperation to facilitate two-way trade.
