Jewellery & Gem ASIA Hong Kong (JGA) 2025 opens today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), bringing together thousands of visitors with real buying power and approximately 1,200 exhibitors from close to 30 countries and regions.
JGA, renowned as Asia’s biggest mid-year B2B fine jewellery sourcing fair, will feature over 30 theme and group pavilions, offering a complete range of products – from loose diamonds, coloured gemstones and pearls to fine jewellery, tools and equipment and packaging solutions – all in a single marketplace. The highly anticipated fair will run until June 22, 2025.
“In today’s challenging market environment, our community must be increasingly proactive and agile to thrive. JGA arrives at the perfect moment – providing a platform where new products, fresh insights and countless opportunities await discovery,” said Celine Lau, director of Jewellery Fairs at organiser Informa Markets Jewellery. “During these times of widespread uncertainty, maintaining direct connections with suppliers and buyers becomes even more vital for business resilience. JGA provides this essential face-to-face interaction, allowing decision-makers to build stronger relationships, gain real-time market intelligence and navigate the future with more clarity and confidence.”
Industry knowledge
Adding to the show’s value proposition are panel discussions and seminars that deliver actionable market insights.
“The Rise of the Eco-Friendly Luxury Consumer” is taking place today, June 19, from 2:30pm to 3:30pm at The Stage in Hall 1B, and led by industry insiders Lianne Ng of Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group; Henry Tse of Ancardi, Nyrelle & JRNE; and Pui In Catherine Siu of PICS Fine Jewellery. The session focuses on the correlation between luxury and the call for sustainability and its impact on consumers’ purchase intentions.
Tomorrow, June 20, “For the Love of Pearls: A Millennial and Gen Z Affair,” will examine the growing appeal of pearls among younger consumers, with insights from Ruby Autore of Autore Group; David Wong of Fukui Shell Nucleus Factory; and Julien-Loïc Garin of The Collection by JLG. This will be followed by the “2025 Taobao and Tmall Jewellery E-commerce Trends Presentation” from 3:30pm to 4:30pm, where Taotian Group executives Rui Zi and Karl Huang will share key findings from the “2025 Taotian E-commerce Jewellery Industry White Paper.” The study covers industry trends, consumer preferences and growth opportunities for jewellery businesses. Taotian is Alibaba’s e-commerce unit that includes Taobao and Tmall.
All of the above-mentioned sessions will be conducted in English with AI-powered Mandarin captions.
On Saturday, June 21, the “Taobao Global Conference: Online-Offline Integrated Strategy to Achieve Growth in the Jewellery Market” will be held from 2pm to 5pm. Taotian Group’s Ling Yin and Shu Ta will lead this session, which will be conducted in Mandarin.
Spotlight features
Moreover, three unique attractions enhance the JGA experience, namely, the Orient Odyssey 2.0 (OO 2.0) pearl exhibit (Stand 3M260) supported by Platinum sponsors Autore, Hong Kong Edison Pearl Co Ltd, Jewelmer, Paspaley Pearling Company and Rio Pearl; a dedicated Gold Jewellery Pavilion and the announcement of the Sustainability Awards 2025 by JWA (Jewellery World Awards) finalists.
Following its debut at JGW last September, Orient Odyssey is once again dropping anchor at JGA to celebrate the “Queen of Gems.” This rebooted project – OO 2.0 by Informa’s Jewellery & Gem Knowledge Community (J&G Knowledge Community) – traces the pearl’s journey from mollusc to haute joaillerie, enhanced by interactive experiences. Visitors may enjoy expert demonstrations of pearl extraction from oysters and mussels, alongside scheduled pearl-facetting sessions by award-winning lapidarist Kazuhito Komatsu of the Komatsu Cutting Factory. Kazuhito is showcasing “Hanashinju” (Japanese for “gorgeous pearl”) – the facetted “Flower Pearl” invented in 1992 by his father, master diamond cutter Kazuo Komatsu.
The exhibition likewise transcends gem appreciation through its freshwater pearl jewellery Charity Sale, orchestrated in partnership with returning sponsors Hong Kong Edison Pearl, Heng Mei Group and Yee On Pearls & Jewellery Company. All net proceeds directly support water and sanitation initiatives across Asia through “A Drop of Life,” a Hong Kong-based NGO. In 2024, Informa’s fundraising generated HK$100,000 for the charity, funding 14 projects in Cambodia that directly benefited 135 residents in Siem Reap Province. The 2024 sale was also sponsored by the three companies.
The Gold Jewellery Pavilion presents innovative trends and technological advances in gold jewellery design and manufacturing, demonstrating the metal’s boundless creative potential. This destination likewise serves as a teaser to two curated zones at September’s Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW): Sublime Shine – a J&G Knowledge Community exhibit highlighting gold, platinum, silver and other jewellery metals with support from the World Gold Council (WGC) and Platinum Guild International – and an expanded Gold Jewellery section featuring WGC’s inaugural pavilion.
Reflecting the industry’s increasing commitment to sustainable business practices, the highly anticipated Sustainability Awards 2025 by JWA announced its finalists today at a Media Gathering. The winners will be revealed in July and honoured during the JGW Fair Reception on September 17 at the HKCEC.
