High-value coloured gems on offer at Jemora Gemhouse’s inaugural auction later this month can now be viewed in New York too, the company announced.
A newly launched auction house specialising in rare coloured gems, Jemora Gemhouse earlier announced its maiden auction of premium-quality sapphires on March 27. An initial viewing at DMCC’s Almas Tower in Dubai is scheduled for March 17 to 19, followed by viewing in New York from March 24 to 26. Results will be announced on auction day.
Jemora Gemhouse Founder and CEO Dev Shetty remarked, “The market’s overwhelming response has led us to add New York and Dubai as a venue for viewing our rare and high-value polished sapphires.”
With the pre-sale viewing in New York, more collectors, trade partners and jewellers can now appreciate and experience the gemstones firsthand, added Shetty.
Jemora Gemhouse is also partnering with the Provenance Proof Blockchain aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability throughout its supply chain. Each sapphire lot will be recorded on a digital decentralised ledger, allowing owners to track the polished gem from the auction house to its finished state.
The auction will feature over 25 pieces of rare blue, pink, Padparadscha and yellow sapphires from renowned sources such as Kashmir, Madagascar, Burma and Sri Lanka. Interested buyers can apply online to participate in the by-invitation auction. They will then receive an invitation and undergo a thorough KYC process to ensure that they meet Jemora Gemhouse's selection criteria.
According to the auction house, every gemstone is certified by leading laboratories, including AGL, GRS, SSEF and Gübelin.
Jemora Gemhouse specialises in extremely rare and exclusive polished coloured gemstones. Shetty previously worked at Gemfields and founded Fura Gems, which discovered the historic Estrela de Fura ruby that later sold at Sotheby’s New York for US$34.8 million.
Jemora Gemhouse is planning to include other rare coloured gemstones such as ruby, emerald, alexandrite, Paraiba tourmaline and spinel in its upcoming auctions.
