Jewellery manufacturers are setting their sights on professional trade buyers from the Asia-Pacific region and beyond as they showcase their latest releases at Jewellery & Gem ASIA Hong Kong (JGA).
Wing Hang Diamond Co Ltd is highlighting its jewellery line featuring its very own Hearts & Arrows diamonds to retailers and chain stores from Asia, including China, Hong Kong and Japan.
According to company designer Summer Li, Wing Hang manufactures all kinds of diamonds but has developed a specific expertise in small Hearts & Arrows diamonds from 0.08 to 80 points.
“These are extremely challenging to produce since creating 57 facets on small diamonds requires precision and skill developed over time. Our jewellery line, launched four years ago, is thus ideal for international buyers seeking to carry a high-end diamond jewellery line,” she said.
Bronia Yip, managing director of Goldiaq Creation Ltd, said she expects to see more retailers at JGA 2024 as opposed to wholesalers and manufacturers who usually visit Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong in September.
"It has to do with the timing of JGA," noted Yip. "For instance, we have a few retailer clients from Asia who come to the show to place orders. We expect this kind of activity at the fair."
Some of Goldiaq's long-term customers would call in orders prior to JGA and visit the fair to collect the items.
In terms of jewellery designs, classic styles alongside creative motifs remain highly favoured in the trade. Coloured gemstones are also strong performers, especially blues and greens, shared Yip.
Elegance Jewellery International Ltd (EJI), for its part, is training its sights on buyers from the Middle East, a market it started exploring since last year.
According to Vincci Pak, manager of EJI’s sales department, the company launched a freshwater pearl collection this January, specifically created to meet the preferences of Middle Eastern consumers. Taking pride of place at EJI’s booth at JGA 2024, the collection consists of statement pieces, ranging from necklaces to earrings, with bold and elaborate designs.
Pak said, “Unlike their counterparts in Europe, the US and Japan, female consumers in the Middle East prefer unique and special designs for daily wear. At the same time, the jewellery pieces need to be affordable as these are for regular use.”
JGA 2024 runs until June 23 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The show features some 1,500 exhibitors from more than 30 countries and regions.
