The 15.48-carat Pink Supreme diamond fetched HK$83.88 million (approximately US$11 million) at Christie’s Hong Kong, demonstrating solid market demand for exceptional diamonds.
The amount represents a per-carat price of HK$5.41 million (around US$700,000). A fancy intense pink internally flawless Type IlA diamond, The Pink Supreme was the star of Christie’s Magnificent Jewels & The Pink Supreme Autumn Auction on November 27, which achieved a total of HK$491.4 million (about US$63.33 million) – a testament to the strength of the Asian luxury market, according to the auction house.
“The sale’s diverse curation of fancy colour and colourless diamonds, jade and creations from renowned jewellery houses resulted in an exceptional hammer price of 96 per cent against the pre-sale estimate,” noted Christie’s.
Other highlights of the auction were a 3.51-carat pear-shaped fancy vivid blue diamond, which sold for HK$50.22 million (around US$6.47 million); and a fancy vivid and intense blue and pink diamond ring, which fetched HK$36.67 million (approximately US$4.72 million).
